Mac OS X and Linux support
I saw this game on the Steam Early Access and I was very interested at what the game was going to be like once it was fully released. However, I noticed it doesn't have Mac OS X and Linux support. Will these be supported in the future?

The Devs explicitely stated there won't be a Mac version. They did not even say anything about other Unix based systems lke Linux which probably means no for Linux as it is somewhat related to MacOS.
The reason for this is probably that the game runs in DX11 or DX10.1 and it would probably take a LOT of work to write a render engine equally capable and compatible with existing AC code for OpenGL.
TL;DR: No

Well. This game had supported steampad before Steam machine was given to beta-testers. So, I think, it`s might to support Steam OS, at least. http://steamdb.info/blog/34/

SteamOS runs on Debian linux, so still no. Steam gamepad is also for windows, so thats why it will works native in AC

You guys also forget that most wheels that are worth a damn do not have drivers for Linux

I can`t agree. Steampads are tested now on Steam Machine with Steam OS only. So it`s lack of sens to add support for controller, which hasn`t been using on windows.

But thats not the point, steam gamepads are USB device, it will works both on windows and unix system. But AC will have native support, so you dont need to start "legacy" mode where gamepad will emulate mouse and keyboard, or standard xinput. Gamepad is in beta stage, it will have touchscreen in the middle and so on, so game need to have native support for full functionality.

I highly doubt that Kunos has time and people enough to make a conversion. This game is built all around directx like the first dude said and they will keep working on it for years to come. Let's see if steamos can make linux more poupular in a few years, then maybe.

LTWheelConf-master works perfectly on Linux and my G25 wheel. ( using iracing ).

Anyway programming a game under and for windows only is a HUGE mistake, in my opinion. Lack of imagination.

Which uses Dx11 so I don't get all those "Assetto Corsa is using Dx11 so there will be no SteamOS version" arguments.

They don`t want to work with linux and they don`t need arguments for that.
I hope, project CARS will work on OpenGL 4, not 2.1

If a game supports SteamOS then it will work on the Linux desktop. SteamOS = Linux
