Tyre Wear?
Hey guys,
Something I don't get about this game is tyre wear. I tested the tyre wear mechanics by doing some burnouts and for some reason, it doesn't wear them out whatsoever, yet in the option, I put tyre wear x 3. This makes no sense to me.

I'm surprised that I have not seen any discussion on this topic. If tyres are squealing, this is a sign that you are losing grip and losing rubber, so why are the my tyres not wearing out when I spin the tyres?

I'd appreciat any comment on the subject,

Thank you and cheers!

it works for me, even at 1x?

Nothing happens! I literally position the car against a wall and floor it in first gear for 5-10 minutes straight haha and nothing...

Thank you for your replies. Are blowouts possible in this game? In all the sims I have played in the past, the tyres can blowout if I drift for too long or after doing donuts...I'm just one of those guys who can only truly enjoy a racing sim if there is real consequences to bad driving...

It may only calculate tyre wear by distance. Lot of games use this as a short cut.

Good point!! It that's the case, it's a shame and I'm surprised they would do this, because everything else in the game is extremelly well done and seems very accurate. Of all things to cut corners...This is obviously not an issue for most people, because I did not hear any complaints elsewhere. Maybe I'm just nitpicking here, but isn't simulating real tyre wear important in a sim racing game lol? Ah well, you can't have it all in a game and hats off to Kunos for what they did with AC; it's a wonderful game despite this missing feature.

Nope, it doesn't. Do some burnouts for about 30 seconds to a minute then go try some corners lol.

Maybe mechanical damage has to be set at 100% too?

I do set mechanical damage to %100. I just think it's strange that you can't get a flat. The only time I see the tyre damage icon appear is when I skid, but not when I spin the tyres. Does anyone know how mechanical damage and tyre wear works exatcly in this game? For example, some cars when you over rev the engine, it damages it, but with other cars, it doesn't. Perhaps factory cars are more "fragile" than racing cars, which would make sense.

Why on Earth are you bumping this without even adding to it?

Tire wear is in AC.
Anyone capable of doing a string of incident-free laps will feel it come into play.
If you don't notice it, you're not pushing the car/tires to their limits.

Tire wear is measured in percent, and ragequits' link above shows you an app where you can see your tire wear, as well as current temperature and pressure ratings. I've never been able to get semislicks down below 95% wear really. Tires wear regardless of damage settings. resulting in slower laptimes and less grip.

Flatspotting is a different issue, and occurs only when damage is enabled. Flat spotting your tires comes from locking up the brakes into a corner, and causes the wheels to become unbalanced and vibrate.

The simple fact is, on street or semislick tires, you're never going to wear a significant portion of your tires out in a 10 lap race, so the low wear rates seem pretty sensible to me.

I don't drive enough with the racing slicks to determine their wear rates.

AC supports tire wear, flatspotting, heating, graining and blistering. Not sure about flat tires, but I've never managed it. If you look in the ini files, you can see the values used for graining and blistering thresholds, tire pressure values, and all that good stuff.
