Can't See my Own Dedicated Server
I've set up a dedicated server. It runs. The cmd box shows the setup all the way thru the OK messages so I assume its out there.

Trouble is I cannot see my own server in game in the server list that AC displays. So I can't join my own server.

From doing a search I'm assuming it has to do with setting it up a bit differently than setting up a dedicated server for others to use.

Any ideas on what I missed? What do I have to do to see my own server in the AC server list?

Do you have REGISTER_TO_LOBBY set to REGISTER_TO_LOBBY=1?

Also, are you the only one not able to see it?

Check your filters, mine didn't show once because I forgot to select 'show locked servers' as I normally race on unlocked servers.

Yep... Set to 1.

Don't know if I'm the only one that can see it or not since I can't see it and can't tell if anyone has joined.

Looking at the server screen I can see the server sending out its thing every 10 seconds or so and the message ends with 3 OK's. From the how to vids I've watched that is supposed to mean it is up and running.

.

I heard of issues with running the dedicated server on the same hardware you're trying to connect from. I don't know the specifics because I just avoided that situation altogether and put the server on a Fusion VM but there's a thread around here somewheres.

Open correct ports on your router.

You could try installing the Microsoft Loopback Adapter. It's a network adapter that's already in windows and can be installed using device manager. After installing you need to set it up in a domain that's not part of your network. This allowed me to both host a server and join it on the same computer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsWICPPO_N8

that shows you how to install it in Windows 7, but stop after setting up the IP address and subnet for it, I didn't need to do anything after that that is shown in the vid.

EDIT: here it is for Windows 8

I know that its been a while since you comment but I want to thank you fershlugg!! This really helps, so to be specific about steps, your part was only first in my struggle:

1) install MS Loopback Adapter (same on windows 7/8/10) - should be enough just as it is

2) in network settings of Loopback Adapter - to be clear, I think that it would work even without this IP settings but if dont, do this:
choose IPv4 and there set you actual LAN IP of your computer. You can get this with cmd and command ipconfig. Then in Loopback Adapter fill IP and subnet mask

-- this is all in video fershlugg posted, now there are parts in AC Server Manager and AC game

3) in AC Server Manager - turn off "loop mode", "show on lobby" and "pickup locked entry list" and set your other parts of server as you want. Everything about connecton, ports ect. keep as it is. Also in Session/Weathers turn off booking.

4) in AC game, select only filters "inlcude empty servers"

5) play on your server!!

Additional info:
- in AC Server Manager, you need to SAVE your changes each time before starting new server, otherwise your config would not be set
- I allowed UDP and TCP ports in my firewall which were in AC Server Manager. BUT - I dont think that this is necessary because on my other PC its not allowed in firewall and everything is working

It's been a while, I don't really do config files anymore. Wrote my own software to do it for me lol.

Anyways, you just add it to like server.ini or some ♥♥♥♥. whatever it's called, I don't remember anymore.

EDIT: It's in server_cfg.ini
