Are car and track mods safe to install?

Is it possible that a virus or any harmful code might be run from an installed track or car mod?

Idk about harmful code but as long as the mod you download doesn't have an .exe file (or automatic installer) then it shouldn't have any virus. When you download mods you can check the content for yourself, nothing is restricted from opening and checking for yourself. Also I haven't found any comment of thread about mods from Assetto having any virus or harm your pc.

Downloading from racedepartment.com or from the modding section of Assetto forum, it shouldn't have any virus, ultimately check the comments or the files you download.

As long as their downloaded from an official source (such as Racedepartment or the official forum) you won't have any trouble. There is also UnitedRaceDesigns, which do use .exe's but they're harmless, they are payware mods though.

No. Modding is encouraged by the developers.

Also, nothing in AC uses VAC.
