Penalty system
Am I the only one to think that the penalty system is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? especially in trial mode? Come on, for a game that predents to be a simulator (vs arcade games) that's not credible.

1 wheel out of the black thing and you get to slow down to 50 kph or get many seconds penalty, I don't believe it. You are already penalised by behing off track. Kunos, remove it or rework it so its credible.

I don't get why the penalty system hasn't changed yet lol, everyone I've seen talking about it can't stand it :p

I think it's stupid that you're penalised for going wide, but I wouldn't mind the current penalty system if you were only penalised for taking a shortcut through corners.

Yeah it is a crappy solution to the problem, but you can turn it off in the settings for now, if you aren't worried about achievements etc.
Sokolov Oct 18, 2014 @ 3:43am
Yeah, it can be turned off, but then you won't get any achievements and if you do a lot of long sessions like test or long race weekend, you will lose bunch of them.

I hate this system too, and it does not even prevent drivers from short cutting. On some tracks like Imola you are faster by cutting the track even with this 5s slow penalty.
Short cutting should be punished. With this system, you get punished when you dont drive clean, or when you slip out over the curbs just slightly too much, but then you loose time anyway.

Yeah looks as if the devs never watch a real life race, even on TV....

race good and the penalty system doesnt matter, well except for thos location you can use it to cheat.

But it does matter. And it's a crappy system. A few examples:

1) Hotlapping. You're driving on the limit, you get sudden snap-oversteer mid-corner, which puts one tire just that one inch too far, resulting in 'The Penalty' and the 'system' hits your brakes and completely ♥♥♥♥♥ you up, instead of just invalidating the laptime and letting you save that slide and letting you move on.

2) Racing. You're driving full on, in a pretty tight pack just after the start of the race. You see 2 guys crash in front of you, and the only thing to do, if you don't wanna end up in the wreck with them is to dodge them off-track. Bang. Penalty. Doesn't even have to be a crash, even someone braking way too early can force you off-track.

Just face it. It's a poor system and should be improved asap. This has been an issue for a long time.

The biggest motivation for penalty system offenders is to have a shorter lap time than others and if in a race, to win it by cutting corners. If they add lap time penalties like added time or invalidated time or what else is used in real life racing rules, instead of 5 seconds to slow down like now, then it doesn't compensate to cheat in the race. Plus getting rid of auto slow down should happen.

Don't play it "you noobs have to improve instead of complaining".

That systems is ♥♥♥♥, perioud !!!
You cut a corner you get penalised, this is fine.
You run wide in a corner because of understeering or whatever you penalized yourself, no need for this crappy penalty system, you've already punished yourself.
Hadji Oct 19, 2014 @ 8:53am
You can crash into an opponent without penality but as soon as you miss a curb by an inch the Hand of God puts a potatoe in your exhaust. Get rid off this system!

Anyway... this penalizing brings me out of the rythm when training. If you disable that, the times won't be counted. So everybody hae to play with the penalizing on. The RaceRoom penalizing is better. But it's the only thing i don't like!

Lately I've been playing practice/hotlap without penalties. The best laps are still saved to your profile even if you disabled penalties, but you won't be able to register the laps to RSR livetiming or similar. You can setup races without the time penalty, it works well. Just career and special events must be with penalties to work.
Also some servers play without penalties enabled.

Allright! ThanX. But i still need to say that the penalty system is not real. Logically...

You can gain advantage either cutting the corner or going wide and maintaing higher speed. In F1 you either loose you qualy lap or get a pistop penalty during a race for doing so. Its called track limits.

instead of this they should put penalties to all those crazy AI hitting you in back..they all should get 5 sec penalty so they learn next time .. damn AI lol :)
but if you can turn it on or off .. i dont see any problem here.. use it or not ..
