How to Remap the "Xbox-Style" controller
Please Devs, I have limited mobility, and can only use the xbox-style controller.

I apologize to have ask for help, but it wouldn't let me remap the keys they way I need them.

Could a Dev, or other Helpful person provide a working solution to this?

To any help I receive, I thank you.

It might help if you explain how you want to map it, others may know if it can be done somehow.

My first pointer would be try setting up your controller as a "wheel" in AC.

Thanks,

The Thumb knob to stear, "2" button to accelerate, the "3" button to break.
I am hoping the game can do the shifting for me :)

The problem you might have there is using buttons for accelerate and brake. The game will only assign axes from the wheel or controller menus, I think.

What you could try, is setting up some keyboard and mouse settings in game, then using xpadder to map those controls to your pad. It is a bit convoluted but might work. If you want to get a legitimate copy of xpadder for free, the last version was 5.3. Anything after that was a paid for product. It is however only £6 I think, so if you think binding mouse and key controls to a pad is useful, it might be worth looking into buying a copy.

There are similar programs that may or may not be to your preference, I only have experience with xpadder though.

I absolutely get this is not Dirt...........................However; they could allow for an XBOX-like support for this game in the way DIRT does.

I have given them my 54$, and will now happily wait for a time the DEVs might add this.

In the Meantime I have shown my support for the Game with my Cash.

Thanks for replying, I play leaning back in a La-z-boy (ROG Swift PG27).

Yeah, I'm not saying more rounded configuration options for pads would be a bad thing, I'm just offering ways of which I think might get you to play how you want whilst they don't exist.

If you really want to get some better feedback from the developers on this go here...

I started that, but do the DEVs ever read Steam Forums?
Manwith Noname Mar 16, 2015 @ 6:44pm
Officially, no. I have yet to see them respond to anything on here with the odd exception of when the game was in early development. Though I seriously doubt they don't check it out. It's just, being steam forums tends to result in a whole lot of nonsense....*looks at the graphics thread*.

Understood, however; I have Gigaware controller and the Game won't recognize it at all.

It has a "Xbox" selecter but it wont let me even change the up and down for shifting.

I am a little sad now.

EDIT, the bottom left window in the controller setup shows me pressing keys, but when I try to remap the other keys on the right, it won't detect them.

This device has triggers, can the be a patchable fix to the game?

Perhaps try X360CE? I used it for a playstation layout controller.

Mind and read the wiki, it looks a bit confusing at first.

Xpadder may be your best bet.

The xbox 360 controller uses the two lower buttons as axes, so they are not really 'buttons' but z axis, that you can use both at the same time. But as it seems in this case, is it Xbox original controller?

I just noticed this line. By default, a 360 pad will use triggers for accelerate and brake. I think, gears are B and X, at least, when I use a pad that's how I set it up. If you can drive like that, I urge you to do so. Ever since the original XBox I moved to this control scheme and it is by far the most intuitive, immersive method I have come across on a joypad.

The only controller I have ever used other than a wheel that, for me, that is better than this setup was the NeGcon.[en.wikipedia.org] I'm really sad this design never went any further, it really was a joy playing racing games with that.
