general input i get is that there great things about both games like things i enjoy with GT being the career mode and there great things about this game mostly driving sounds physics.
i guess what pc needs is a game that brings both to gether in a marriage lol
what is the stage of the development? can we await the game anytime soon?
I have about 100 hours into it so far and only 12% in to completing career.
The licensing is a little different compared to past GT's. It seems really easy to get a gold now. Also I noticed the AI is A LOT smarter but more giving at the same time right now. They get right out of your way for a clean pass(when you have the right momentum to get by clean) instead of keeping the lane, but at the same time they will slam the door on you if you get off line.
The physics and graphics put Assetto on the back burner in my opinion, but thats just me. Its much more of a simulator than previous GT's thats for damn sure. I use an omega cockpit/wheel to drive and its so tight and loose at the same time, that it compares to driving a street car. Havent got in to the mosters yet. Im only so far in to the career that I am still on the street cars.
Supposedly to be released late this year early 2016. Its still in the beginning test stages of testing so I wouldnt expect it till close to the end of the year at least.
Telemetry data must be included for a title to be considered a simulator.
Why?
Because with that real-time data (1000's of data packets per second) AC applies that data to the physics engine. A easy example would be tyre temps and air pressure.
In AC telemetry data is created in real time. The telemetry data is massive and it monitors many things, in fact too many things.
AC is a simulator no arguement.
GT produces no telemetry data.
That means it can't add those pieces of data to the physics engine in real-time. It might have basic generic data such as if the tyre is doing X speed therefor it must be X temp but it's not monitoring everything in real-time.
It's safe to assume it's not calculating tyre temps, it's not calculating the camber or the toe, or another 1000 other things because it simply doesn't know about them.
Without proper telemetry support GT can't put those details into the physics engine, it can only guess and therefor why it's always been a simulator/arcade and not a true simulator.
GT is aimed and marketed at a very broad audience of console gamers and must be playable by just about anybody. AC and other simulators are aimed at providing a more realistic experience through more accurate world and car physics, and more realistic racing environments.
Both titles have entirely different goals. Both have their place in the market.
GT isn't a simulator it guesses what is going on and that's about it. Without this data you can't simulate anything.

Most people aren't beta testers for GT7 so are judging GT off what we can play atm, it would be great if GT7 is more of a sim as I could see myself wasting a lot of time doing career mode in the the driving was better.
I guess if you repeat it long enough you'll believe it. It's as much a sim as F1 2015.
Put it this way why do you think Kunos didn't add mods like you see in GT?
That question was put to the devs ages ago and you know what they said?
To simply add more power via turbo or to change the aero dynamics on any car would require them to rework the car for each combination of modifications, considering the amount of mods GT offers this would be impossible. Also no data is available for most of the modifications.
When they purchase a licence they not only get the right to use the name of the car in the game but they also get all the engineering data along with each car. All the data that comes from aero dynamic testing and so forth.
If you add a larger wing to a car and change the original you don't just add more downforce you also change the fundementals of the car the way it handles and so forth. Considering Kunos are after accuracy adding "made up" wings or other stuff to the car would defeat the whole purpose of the project, accuracy.
That's why they stick to the real cars and the real mods (stages) available because they can test the car against the data in the game and provide an accurate representation.
Essentially, if you add something to the car it may as well be treated as a different car. It's impossible to model correctly all the combinations that GT has to make it anywhere realistic.
GT is not a sim.
