Very few cars in base game, more cars cost cash?
Im pretty disappointed that they chose to go this route, i have been waiting to here about additions to the roster and now they drop a dlc pack? Seems pretty shady to me considering the tracks and cars are not a very large roster to begin with. Anyone else feel cheated a bit here? I get that there are a bunch of people working on mods but man, i dont really feel as though i should have to pay for the rest of the vanilla vehicles that are needed in there in the first place. 40 dollars and then 14 bones for each pack, pretty steep if you ask me for what you are getting...

it's not that theres a small amount of cars, it's expensive to license the cars and the track and the cost of rendering each car/track so that its an exact replica of the real thing.

I understand there is a cost figured into scanning and getting things ingame, but i dont ever recall them saying "we are going to only give you ten cars and a few tracks or whatever for your game purchase and then you have to pay us to add content to the game" If that was the case i would have never purchased this, thats shady early-access ♥♥♥♥ right there...

You could always see where there were going and they communicated what would be in the final 1.0 version (which, incidentially has more than ten cars, more like 30+). They also said that additional cars and tracks by Kunos would be DLC (e.g. Nürburgring and the cars released in the first DLC).

Additionally, you have the choice to download tracks and cars from other people and while those might not be laser scanned, they might still be good or very good, depending on the maker/team and often they are free.

So, basically, you didn't inform yourself of what would be in the game, even though it was communicated clearly by Kunos and are calling that shady early access. My suggestion, because I'm getting sick and tired of people not wanting to read, is learn to read and understand what you read.

it's not like forza. they don't create one physic model and slap 250 different number combos on it. they go through tons of data they get from the manufacturer to create these rides. less is more.

I purchased this early access and havent followed it alot because it was really going slow, but i never once remember them saying that it was going to be a pay scale like this for a few cars and a single track with a few layout variants. I have been grabbing up 3rd party mods because they are pretty varied and are pretty well done, but i dunno it just seems that what we got for what we invested was no where near comparable to any other racing sim of the same price...

I would totally if it wasnt for the paid subscription idea, thats not something i am willing to support. They say that it helps to keep the driving clean and racing competitive but from what i have seen its about the same as anything else.

I was being sarcastic ;) but I guess you answered your own complaint.

We are talking about 10 $ / € for a complete 21 km long laserscanned track an a few 1:1 importet high quallity cars? I think it's okay. So you bought the early access... 23 $? maybe 25?

25+ 10 = 35 .... It's okay. :B1:

cmon 10 bucks is nothing for a few licensed cars and laser scanned tracks.. look what the same things cost in R3E, and project cars will go the DLC route aswell if i remember correctly and project cars does not have laser scanned stuff in it

what can you get for 10 bucks? a visit in your cinema maybe? and you get 2 hours of fun, if you drive 20 laps on the new nürburgring you already got that cinema visit back in your pockets :D

Why are people still surprised about the DLC?

It was announced DECEMBER 2013, for ♥♥♥♥'s sake.
Doug de la Boy Mar 12, 2015 @ 2:44am
lol i had to pay 35 euros and now 15 euros for the dlc. and people get the dlc incl for only 5 bucks more. early access buyers shouldnt be charged more than 5 euros in my opinion.

Did you see what you were buying before you paid for it? At the beginning of early access there were only a handful of cars. They never promised there would be hundreds of cars for free. At any time when you bought the game there was a full list of cars that would come with what you bought. Did you assume this was another GT title were you got hundreds of cars that all drove the same?
AC was also designed to be modder friendly, so modders can reproduce their favourite cars with proper physics, not like the usual pish rolled out on other games. Sure there are some cr@p conversions but if you look for mod cars on the official website, the majority are of excellent quality. The Cobra was actually a mod car which the devs bought the rights to.

Each track's average cost is 100,000 Euros. A license for each car averaged 1,500 Euros, that's before time/costs to actually produce it. If you think you're being ripped off you really need to put things into perspective and properly compare it the drivel available in other games.

Well, it is neither my nor Kunos problem if you didn't read what they communicated here and on their own website, now is it?

It was for you to read it first, then to make up your mind. When I bought into this early access I knew beforehand that those 30+ cars and 5+ tracks with variants where all that I would get with the 1.0 version and that additional tracks and cars by Kunos would be paid DLC.

Still, compared to what you have to pay for cars in iRacing a 10 pack of cars with one laser scanned track (with variants) is more than a good price, espcially considering that Kunos a) wants to make money to pay their employees to further develop this product (maybe even to the point of night races and implemented weather) and b) that they don't have the backing of a big, powerful, money saturated publisher.

As with many things in live, you should start seeing things in context to other things.

Laserscanning a track costs time, money, resources and licensing costs.

Creating a car can be as easy as doing it with a few measurments a basic data on the handling or by licensing the likeness and acquiring data from the cars manufacturer. Even if you don't get the data, if you want to use a car in a game you will have to pay licensing costs to the manufacturer. However, with manufacturer data you can often make a more realistic car and, more importantly, physics model.

Still, all that doesn't matter in this case.

What does matter is that you did not read/inform yourself what would be in the 1.0 version and are now whining that there is so little content (though quite much for a simulation created from scratch). Just one suggestion, never ever buy into full on study sim flight simulation, as good planes there cost 40$+ a piece.

I like how people complain about really quality stuff that takes a lot of hard work to create costs a few bucks, but at the same time, people spend literally hundrets of dollars for weapon textures in CS:GO or weapon cases with extremely low chances to get what you want. Humans... *facepalm*
