What's a game that stalls your car when you don't shift properly?
So I'm basically learning to drive manual, and I want to buy a manual car in the future, so I was wondering if I could get some simulator practice before trying it out in real life. So far I have the basics, however cars don't stall on assetto corsa when I release the clutch too fast. I was looking at city car driving, but many don't recommend it.

There is no comparison, especially at lower speeds in Assetto Corsa - the high speed physics are where this sim shines.

The only way you're going to master a manual gearbox is to actually drive a real car with a manual gearbox really, you have the mechanical feedback and biting points (which vary from car to car) that you just don't get in a sim, in my opinion anyway.

I was simming using the clutch for years before getting my driving license and I stalled loads, I do think LFS gave me a good idea though, you should try it out if you haven't already as there is a free demo.

dont wory at all about manual, its easy as throwing stones in real cars, so dont worry. there is northing you rly need to practice for in a sim.

the only thing that help is to memorize pedal layout, clutch break gas, from left to right. and already know the gear layout. like getting used to 1, down to 2nd, up-right-up 3rd, down 4th and so on.

if you already know this when you sit in the car first time you better prepared than other students already and it will be a breeze.
yea maybe you stall out a few time in 1st trying to get it moving, but who cares, lil more gas and clutch slip and off you go, and once you go it become rly easy.

Slow speed physics are bads in this game but the car actually stalls.
The problem is that it restart automatically without any input from the player.

Try GSCE.

But it's irrelevant as a suggestion because it wouldn't help the OP.

It's on thing to slip in GSCE as an alternative but GSCE would not help the OP learn how to drive a manual car. You're just being an ass and trying to get someone to waste money on your fav sim. A large majority of your posts are just that, blatent advertising to point people away from AC to GSCE, your post history shows that.

We all know you like the old game from 10 years ago, good for you, times have changed though It's no longer 2005.

Game Stock Car: Extreme came out last year. It's almost certainly a better sim than AC. Don't just be nasty to someone because they say something you don't agree with.

Whilst I agree that there was no need for Rudski to be a bell end, the engine for GSCE is a decade old. I'm not saying it's a bad engine but we keep getting this same engine rehashed in numerous sims over the years.

I own CCD and hope one day they add it to Steam. Is a good simulator for what your looking to get into. I'm teaching my kids to drive in there... is fun... and safe. :)

Thanks for the insults from behind your private profile...but they are like water off a ducks back to me.

In the sim GSCE if you are using manual clutch and you take your foot off the clutch too quickly, the car will stall. The engine will only start again when you when you shift into neutral. When taking your foot off the clutch, you have to use the throttle pedal as you do in a real car, or once again you will stall the car. This is what the OP was asking about and I pointed out GSCE does this...pity AC don't

By the way you fu(kin' upshot; I like all sim's from different times and have got 400+ hours in AC; because I prefer one sim to another, is none of your fu(kin' business.

Just borrow a mates old crappy manual car, and get used to the clutch by 'slipping/finding the drag' in a small uphill, without stalling or revving it too much, or preferably not at all. and remember that the cluctch feels different in every car, and 'takes' at a different place.

I have more problem driving my old mom's automatic, since I almost panic when I can't find the clutch, and the gear don't move.. I drive like a drunken granny in an automatic!
davifernandeslima Jan 31, 2015 @ 1:50pm
this is so interresting...
in Brazil, the majority of cars are manual, the driving exams for your license are made on manual cars.
it is the most natural thing in here. After almost 20 years driving manuals, i find automatics more dificult to manage.
Actionjackson Jan 31, 2015 @ 3:24pm
why dont you just drive onto a big empty parking lot to practice? or here where i live there are things called "traffic practice yard"(literally translated), where you pay few € and can drive there with no driving licence, but you need someone in car that as one. its a miniature road network, with signs, trafficlight and all you need. speed limit like 30kmh or 20mph roughly.
my dad took me there befor i went to make my drivers licence. the "traffic" there are the other guys and gals with their parents also going around at 30kmh. the more ppl are there, the more traffic it is.

but i consider all this overkill, you just jump in the car, the instructor tell you what you do and yu do it. and it will be easy. its not allways good to go to learn something while you think your glass is already full.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I guess I'll practice when I have a real car, meawhile, I have another question. When I am going fast and then I start to brake, how do I downshift? Do I press the clutch and brake at the same time and then downshift?
Pig Mac Jan 31, 2015 @ 3:33pm
As long as you have a normal car you start braking, and let the engine help doing that, then onto the the clucth and gear, and keep pace.. if you have a rally car or are a super seriuos simmer, you brake, clutch changegear with the right foot on both the brake and gaspedal and gas ut to where the revs will be at.. but not needed for normal cars :)

yea, while you break, you clutch downshift and release clutch. that is it. there are ways to shift manual gearboxes with no clutch but dont go there yet, its no rly nessesarry and just a gimmick, can play with that when you can drive regulary with clutch.

so every time you shift, up or down, you use the clutch. if you dont you likely hear some grinding noises comming form the gearbox :D

EDIT: i talk about real world here, not the game. although the clutch function is the same.
