laptop graphics, geforce 840m
hi i'm about to buy a new laptop to play assetto corsa. i know it's not the best choice to play on a laptop but i just want one device. it should be durable and also allow me to play games.
i was thinking about buying a thinkpad:

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 15 39,6 cm (15,6 Zoll FHD IPS Anti-Glare) Convertible Ultrabook (i7-5500U, 3,0GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Nvidia GeForce 840M/2GB, Touchscreen, Win 8.1)

Does anyone run the game with a geforce 840m? is it possible and enjoyable?
does it run slower if i use a wheel?
or is there a thinkpad with a more capable graphics card?

thanks, stephan

I find all laptops shutdown due to heat after a while if you run them with intensive games.

And SSD runs cooler than a spinning drive though. A/C on and a cooling tray may help.

Not all laptops run hot, most sli configurations don't but for a single card then yes, very hot. If you were going for a laptop to play games on I would look at getting two graphics card versions. Alienware for example. My M18x with 2x GTX680m's bearly breaks a sweat and runs everything maxed out.

Thats one of the rare brands that usually will; so maybe its fine... but you said `Lenovo Ultrabook`. Which is thin. Wouldn`t guarantee so much cooling in there by comparrison. Most of us could only guess that... and associate it to our i7 Laptops etc....

Dont buy a laptop, they are a waste of money. They absolutely do not deliver on gaming performance. The 840m is comparable to a 50$gpu. If you need something compact get an ITX with a pcie 16x slot. Dont give us that "I dont gots room" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because if you have room for a laptop you have room for a desktop.

That system should have no problems playing this game.
