noone is ever going to convince me that a logitech gamepad is better then the microsoft x1
Did you read my post buddy - it's not about which gamepad is best - it's that triggers are required for accelerate and brake
Oh well, refund it is then.
Sorry for the necro-bump but I just bought the game and I'm looking for the same thing as other people in this topic and this attitude pisses me off to no end.
Remember the fact that this game was released ON CONSOLES and even they didn't get any option to remap the controls, which makes this doubly stupid. This is something that should have been patched long ago but it looks like it was never fixed.....
There's NO logical reason in ANY game not to include custom control mapping options to let people set the game up the way they want to. Custom control mapping options have existed since the days of 2D 16bit systems with 3 button and 6 button controllers, so why would any developer ignore that fact and deliberately limit their game???
Hey man, I just happened to be looking through the discussions about pad configs and came across this thread.....
I use a XB360 pad and use the right thumb stick for throttle/brake in this game with no problems, you simply need to select any one of the pad presets that gives you the option to map all of the buttons, in my case I used one of the Thrustmaster pad presets. This allows you to simply map your buttons how you want.
Tried that, while that option does let me use the right stick for gas and brake, it's still incomplete because I can't bind the clutch and handbrake to the same axis. The triggers are seen as being on the same axis, and you cannot use the same axis for different things.
I usually use the triggers for clutch and handbrake wherever possible, but this game refuses to let people do any kind of complete controller mapping, there's always some stupid limitation.
Next to the right stick there's a checkbox named "combined" which balances input from both axis as if they were on completely different sticks.
That little checkbox needs to be there for the clutch and handbrake options as well.
Eventually I do plan on buying a full steering wheel setup when I can afford it, but no racing game should make that expensive setup near-mandatory by screwing over controller users when a simple config patch would fix so many things.
The modders who are making custom cars and tracks and other tools and apps for this game need to find a way to fix this.
