As it is now, telemetry is basically useless.

I would prefer in the background rather than side by side. With the actual implementation it should be visually appealing and easier to have the track in the background.
For those who remember, something like in Microprose Grand prix 3.
What I was going to say with relation to the telemetry data, is that it would also be nice to see how the lap time relates to your position on the track; my thinking is you might be able to better tell where you are losing time, or where you might be able to pick some time up.
Just a few ideas. Only have a half dozen hours logged but I am loving it!
You can have the track map shown in race move your mouse to right when in game and look for map app.
