Any fix for G27 on-center slack?
I'm new to AC but experienced with several other sims from rF to pCars, and having no FFB forces on-centre when driving straight is often a problem elsewhere too but it usually can be solved or minimized. Any way to do so in AC? I have upped the damping from 0 to 25% and that helps a bit but don't want to turn it up more as it will mask real FFB info coming through.

Also can anyone tell me what the steering and FFB filter sliders do? Thanks.

on my g25 i always use 101% force feedback option in the Logitech profiler and this has fixed my issues with the deadzone in all driving sims.
Unfortunately this does not seem to work on a G27. Tried it, made no difference.

Is it default other than that?

Default of 100% or less exhibits exponential ramping of force to deflection near center. This is called "soft center" and is designed to help reduce FFB oscillations. Above 100% (even just 101%) and the force to deflection curve is linear, so it feels "tighter" at or near center, but at the expense of wicked oscillations. Damping can reduce this, or just hold on tight like I do ;)

Thanks for your explanation.
Isn't this only when using a spring force centering? When I am going straight I still get track abnormalities that add force to the wheel even when centered, which is normal and expected in reality. However a spring force return to center is NOT normal in real life, as it's the pavement's reaction to the tires applying force that makes the steering center, and as far as I can tell AC does model that very well.

I have never used spring centering in any game or simulation, ever. I can't really see any situation where it would be useful, much less realistic. So this sloppy center (supposedly on my G27 as well) is something I never notice honestly.
I've got a G27, and the FFB is way better in AC than any other driving sim or game I have ever tried (which has been just about all of them). Yes, there is a slight zone at the center of the steering movement where the wheel is at rest, or else the motors would be fighting constantly, even when the wheel is just resting. Try moving the wheel even when there is no game sending it input - there is still a tiny bit of slack.
I experience FAR less of this "centre slop" on my G27 in other sims - Simraceway, GTR2, rF, even pCars. So it's something the developers can address to a large degree if they make the effort. Other aspects of the FFB I'd agree are really good for a beta product.

Here I uploaded a "mod" that tweaks two hidden settings. Read there for more details and download, it works. ;)
Necroing this to get information out, I've been tweaking my G29 FFB settings for AC and finished on a 85% Gain, 15% minimum force and rest 0/disabled/default, feels great on the cars I've tried and the sloppiness in the center is almost gone, minimum force can probably be further increased to tighten up even more..
you might want to hop over to Racedepartment and look up the guides on the g wheels. there are several methods for tightning your wheel. might be one to your liking amongst them
oh lol. necro. huh cool
