Oh, if you want you can listen to the AI, they rev up pretty much the same time before the lights go out each time (although you won't hear them if you are revving).
Yep - that was my problem weeks ago and turing TC off helped a ton,
About the only way I could get a half decent launch with a 360 controller is to turn off traction control as others have stated and do not rev the engine until you hear the other car rev his. When that happens that means the light is about to turn green. Just wait until you hear the AI rev his engine, then throttle wide open, should give you a decent launch, just not optimal.
