Seeing as that's the game's main executable, it's "probably" not a virus. And most likely not even a 'steam error', just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ antivirus.

Delete acs.exe and verify cache integrity of the game. After you delete that file from the game installation folder, then go to Steam library - assetto properties - local files - verify integrity.

Not a virus, just AV software getting "false positive" match.
AV software tries to predict new ones and they sometimes get it wrong. Nothing else here.

Then again, you might already have some virus in your computer from before that is infecting all the programs you download..

Yes, infection might be happening on your side when downloading, also a high probability of getting a false positive and the bad blocks happening by other cause.

Hello, thank you for your kind replies, the file has been quarantined, and will verify as suggested.
AV support were also very guick to reply(false positive they suggest) i am the first person to report a virus problem since game launch!!
md5 of todays acs.exe: 217537943EEF901BABF2EAB8375492BD
@OP, in case of uncertainty now it's the right time to do a clean win install and rebuild from scratch :-)
I'm not good at installing malware (I think I have quite good antennas for trustworthyness), but once it happened for unknown reason, and that was a nasty one infecting maaaany executables. Well, reinstall windows had to happen....

guess my first question is what AV are you using. some are very sensitive and think everything is a virus with massive false positives.

I have seen a few people who have had acs.exe either deleted or quarantined by their AV software- so you are not the first person.

I think it happens because there are two executable files for AC. One launches the game to start and the other launches the sim to load the car/track/race. The acs.exe is the one you point to for any outside application. Nvida profile/AMD CCC/Logitech profiler.

I use bitdefender and never had it block a game install.
