@Cheetor, yeah its kind of a hassle every time
I'd advise for everyone to delete any sound fix mod they installed, and install it from the game. Is not enough to uninstall the game, you must delete manually, since steam uninstaller won't remove mods, only original game files.
Which car mods don't have their sounds working?
The only mod that I have now installed is the Mclaren Mercedes Mp4/13 from Virtua Simulazioni , and I have no problems with that. Sounds work good.
I'll try some other mods tomorrow .
Kunos is relying on a 3rd party software (FMOD) and yes sometimes is an incovinience for some fmod updates to break sounds, but the solution is to fix with a 'sound fix', because that is literally throwing away the new improvements done to new sounds. So modders need to update their sounds sometime. Would be easier to update everyone with a system like steam workshop.. but so far I think every active mod got its sound updated for the current fmod version.
The ones that didn't, are mods that aren't legit because the 3d model was ripped and physics for those cars are just average, so those are just some quickly made mods that the modder won't bother any more.
That's not what modding is about.
I'd say the best way to solve is to delete the whole AC folder from /Steam, and the AC folder from /Documents. (here in documents, you can just rename it instead of deleting, then a new one is created, but for the ac folder in steam, delete it). Delete it manually, don't uninstall from steam library, won't erase any modded files.
I did all that and it STILL GIVES ME THE CRACKLE OF DOOM! I don't use mods and I still get that unbearable crackle instead of the car audio. If it helps I use Windows 10 on my machine. I am practically at the end of my rope in trying to deal with this tempermental POS software that breaks everytime KUNOS decides to put out an update.
Says the guy that is using windows 10..
Did you install from scratch of let it update? I've seen plenty of posts lately of issues with just updating to windows 10 /vs/ a clean install.
Driver Issue?
etc?
*Edit* Turns out reinstalling the drivers for my soundcard has solved the CRACKLE OF DOOM issue quite well. Used the Audi Quattro to see if it worked and so far so good.
I think giving Microsoft just a few weeks and this will be perfect, there is some bugs with the menu and other small things but other then that its been awesome.
My hardware.
i5 2500k @ 4.3 Ghz
16 gb HyperX Ram from Kingston @ 1600 Mhz (XMP)
90 Gb Corsair SSD
1 TB Mech. Harddrive, cant remember brand now. WD or Seagate probably.
EVGA 970 SC 4 Gb
Nvidia's drivers have been broken for months but the latest seem to work fine so thats good too. 353.62, they had one 352.63 aswell witch was confusing... :|
Think its still in beta but it works, no problems now, it used to give driver crashes both in Win10 TP and Win 8.1 Pro... now it doesnt anymore.
The new GUIDS.txt file from Kunos includes all the "bank" and "event" references for the new cars.
