Could this game teach you how to drive?
This is a silly question but could you learn how to drive with the game and a driving wheel?

No, allas there is no substitute for driving a real car.

You would probably pick up some very bad habits but I guess you could learn the basics if you had the setup for it (wheel, pedals with clutch, manual shifter).

No, no, no, no, no.

I'm sorry, this is an incredibly stupid question. We have enough bad drivers on the road and kiddies playing Need for Speed and smashing into houses.

i suppose it could help to a degree with an automatic. you cant stall an engine or anything. you'd learn a fair about car physics & emergency situations...honestly city car driving simulator is probably a better bet for learning real life driving.

Well there is those 100,000 dollar formula one racing sims lol,

I think they can improve your reactions and if they good accurate sims they can give you skills that do translate rather well to a real car.

Hopefully your not pushing your road car to the limit normally to have to know how to deal with understeer oversteer too often.

THis could be one of the most realistic sims out there but it's totally not realistic enough to really compare it to real life. Even if it would be "99% realistic". A chimp is also 99% human...
However, there is prove that it helps in some degree. Many simracers became real drivers who where at the beginning really faster than other drivers. Their learning curve doesn't start at zero. The only question is than do they learn faster then an average driver?

It's not really possible, learning to drive is more about learning and adjusting to the rules of the road, the flow of traffic and situational awareness. The game even with a good wheel will not help you with any of this. Not only that but a game wheel feels completely different to how it feels in a car, the pedals also feel completely different, as does the gearbox.

A sim is good to practice techniques after you already know how to drive a car in the real world, and sure you can practice the basics of clutch control and changing gears, but you may get really good at the game and jump in a real car and feel completely out of place.

It really won't help that much at all, just go take some lessons with a good instructor, read up on the highway code for your country and learn in a real car.

You must drive a real car in real world scenarios in order to learn. Practical lessons are the only way to advance with your driving, however you can buy a few driving simulator games specifically designed to teach you in a active way how to read the road, use turn signals correctly etc etc.

So basically, no you will not learn anything from this game that can directly translate to real world driving. Instead go on some lessons, download driving car simulator.

Only iRacing can teach you drive!
