IMHO it is wel worth your time to jump through hoops, i dont really it being that much of a big deal, but there all sorts of mods there and the forums a a trove of content and information.

Also can try race department i dunno if they have RHM or not over there and they u need to register also.

Is it not a bit dodgy/dangerous to give your steam account details to a 3rd party
website ?
I'm a bit worried about that aspect of it,other wise i would sign up.

Click "Use steam login",
put in username and email.
click register.

FYI: You do not give away your Steam ID to a 3rd Party Site. OpenID is used here. Many sites use this. What they do is forwarding you to the Steam Webserver where you login. There a "token" is created and forwarded to the Site you initially wanted to "log in". The Site can only see the Token which tells them "Yes, you are User XY in Steam", but nothing more.
That´s not 100% technically correct, but I hope you get the idea. Your credentials are never entered nor sent to the AC Website.
