well reinstalling game worked for me. Another guy had same problem and resintalled the game and then steam and that fixed his problem.

Reinstall AC hasnt worked as well as all steps/workarounds by AC Steam support did not till now (still wait for more help by steam support).
Deinstalled all now = game + steam.
Run registry cleaner too.
Currently downloaded steam again as well AC download is running =
we will see if it works ... pfffffffffffffff

I reinstalled the game.

Try this. Copy your steamapps to another, safe place. Uninstall Steam. Put steamapps back inside newly installed Steam. Have Steam install applications, and it will draw from that directory.

If you only have two or so games, this works fine. If you have 100s, you're going to have to uninstall Steam and then reinstall your games, without moving the steamapps around, which might take a lot of time.

got this. Got it back by removing all command lines i've added to the steam "launch options"

hope it helps.

Re-intsalling should be defined. I ran the steam installer again and it fixed the issue... for whatever reason

It's good that your method worked. When you ran the installer again it probably deleted the current install and then re-installed. Same idea.
I've got the same problem, tried re-installing, but still getting the same error message. I really don't want to have to re-install all my games. Any workarounds that don't involve reinstalling steam?

if you ever did this before 0.20:

"1. Go to your steam games Library
2. Right-click on Assetto Corsa and choose 'Properties'
3. Click on 'Set Launch Options'
4. and put the values in there. eg. -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=3 -high"

then:

go to the same place and REMOVE those values from the command line and it will work. reinstalling won't remove this.

Thanks, but unfortunately I hadn't done that. It seems to be an ongoing issue when new updates drop, not just this one. I've seen another few fixes on forums, but none have done the trick so far. Someone said waiting for the next update seemed to solve the problem. That or re-install steam =/

that sucks man... best of luck then. at least assetto is update often;
Re-installing steam works, plus there's a way to do it without re-installing any games, or having to move any folders around/create backups. It does however seem to get rid of the categories you may have set for your games within steam.
If you delete everything in the steam folder, except for SteamApps and the steam.exe application itself, then run the application, it will automatically re-install. I found, even when I exited Steam, some of the other bits were still running, so I opened up the task manager and closed them from there. Everything is running smoothly now.

I did that once to fix some connection error i got on the last sale, and got banned from the market for one week, plus being on their security watch for some time; Still don't know what happened or what i did; but yeah, it did solve my connection problems.
