Make tracks like Le Mans or Bathurst from Scratch or let it, you dumbf u c k s
why do you care about it? most mods in GTA4 would be forbidden by this logic..
its modding, no one is making money with it. its a win/win situation
codemasters profits from this as some people see their great track and might get interessted in grid autosport for instance
and if they are not happy with it they will contact their lawyer and he will remove the links, easy as that
we should be rather thankfull to modders out there wo take their time to give us this amazing tracks (selfmade or not)
Easy as that. Modders would answer more aggressive than me, but your mind is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up anway.
CM has a new grid game coming out i am sure they will be completely understanding as people steal content from their older game.
Kunos has made no such rule. They only thing they forbid is posting such content on their official forums.
First of all, ripping stuff without permission it's illegal. Even if you make something from scratch (example : a Porsche Mod for Assetto Corsa) You can't because Porsche it's licensed exclusively to Electronic Arts (in fact Porsche 911 RSR Endurance mod for rFactor was removed) Some people let you make free mods only because it's free advertise, such as Ferrari, McLaren, Nissan (I think). Not everyone gives the permission to create content with his own logos.
Look, I'll pick on your first sentence because the rest is wrong as well but just think about this for a moment. What country are you referring to when you make this statement of fact? Straight away you're argument regardless of how well intentioned is wrong, plain wrong.
Now if you were referring to Australian law, then you would be wrong as well, I can't comment on other countries. Here in Aus it's actually legal to do lots of stuff many consider illegal, as long as you don't sell it or often the case is you're not allowed to reproduce it in public, private viewing is often not illegal. In Aus you can actually download music.
Think about that for a moment, the act is not illegal in itself, the selling or reproducing in public is illegal.
The argument many of you give when saying "its just modding, its win-win", when bringing it down to its core, is this: "if I wouldn't steal it, then I wouldnt be able to own the stolen item, and thats why it is okay that I steal it."
Content created by others, is theirs. They either allow that it is being used for further modding, or they allow it not. Period. Whether that is in conformity with what you want or think or desire, is irrelevant, because you have no right whatever to pick up what is not yours, but somebody else's. Several tracks modded for AC already have been withdrawn by pressure of commercial companies namnely SimBin, because the situation with national laws is crystal clear there.
The only reason why kids like many of you here do not care and find even the most illusional of excuses, is that you do not care at all, and just want to play, and think this alone gives you all rights needed to break the moral and legal (both!) right of creators of content for the fruits of their labour. Whether that is a company, or a private modfdeer, is completely irrelevant here. On display is your unscrupulous selfishness, your brutal egoism, your immorality, your inability to differ between right and wrong, "mine" and "not mine".
What you propose here, is simply theft. Nothing else but this. THEFT. And that is not just some vague morals - it is in your nations' law codes. At least when you are from any Western nation, but most non-Western nations have an understanding of what theft is, too, and what software piracy is. The only ones being creative in using the term, are the Chinese, because product piracy is an important part of their economy's business model. Nevertheless, from natural right's perspoective, they act criminal. And they know it.
Somebody said that Kunos had not made a rule claiming that they want no illegal content modded for AC. That is misleading, because the rule is already there. Its called copyright law. What Kunos said in crystal clear words is that they hope to not see illegal conversions, and that they will not allow them to be discussed in their forums.
I know several forums I visited over the years, where discussion of pirated content - that'S what the name of the game is: pirated content, means: stolen content - simply were forbidden, too, and repeated offenders were threatened with lifelong ban.
I hope that some of you later in your life, when you actually need to work for your living or when you have created something you are proud of, will make the experience of having these fruits of your labour being taken from you against your agreement and will, illegally, by explicit misrespect for your natural right for your property. Just so that you make the experience from the receiving end of this "transaction, and know how it feels to have what is yours stolen from you. When it will be at your cost - then we will see if you still make your weaseling, hypocritical excuses for and defences of theft and piracy.
