4 players on dedicated = Flyings cars
I want to know if it's my server, or my router the problem or if it could be a general problem. I installed a Dedicated, it works well with 2 or 3 players. But if we are 4 at the same time, we got a lot of lag, everyone see everyone else flyng everywhere, and if i look to the server console, it brings a lot of connection error. I take a look to my network usage, but it was really low. And my server wasn't overcharged (CPU never over 40%, Ram Under 25%)specs below . We tried another Public server, Same thing, 4 Player was unplayable together. But we've been able to join a 15 slot server, with 2 or 3 more other player for a total of 7 or 8, and we had a little bit of lag, but it was playable.

Based on the fact my server still had a lot of ressources, and my internet connection wasn't really overloaded, What could it be ? My router? i know that if a have too much connection at the same time my router freeze, but i tried the Configuration page and it was ok...

Spec of my server are modest, but generally it can manage to run Dedicated servers.
Note : i'm running a Mumble server on that machine too, that we are using while we tried to play AC.

Windows XP (Virtual on vmware ESXi 5.1)
CPU 1x 3.0ghz 2Cores Xeon
Ram : 3Gig
Internet Connection 30mbits (down) / 10Mbits (up)

Thank you

This game was great when the alpha came out. Fresh Ideas and lots of things to look forward too. But the game is becoming one big pile of junk...Ill stick with simraceway any day when it comes to a racing simulator. 5 years of content? The game will be dead and technology too old to enjoy the game....Whats going on devs? You started out so good...

@Pom
It seems you are not the only one with this problem. Other people had this bug in multiplayer too. I dont know, what you can do against this, i guess the devs already working on this issue.

You can report this bug in the official forum to help em clearing this issue:

Says the guy who played the game for 5 hours. You seem to really know, what you are talking about...

I've experienced the same problem Three is fine, a fourth throws things out of whack. I've gone a different route for a server, so I'm eager to know how things will turn out. But this three is fine and the fourth blows it up is becoming quite common.

Code needs improvement. I'm sure they are working on it.

As far as dual core this or that, what's more important is upload speed of connection. If I have a very good connection, hell, dual core this or that means nothing.

Ive driven on servers with 20 cars and no issues so maybe someone has a real crappy connection or the server just isnt up to it. We tried a server the first week and everyone local pings under 80 being in Australia local can still be 4000km away lol. First week was good early but as a few more came it freaked out a little and flying cars with everyone getting higher pings.

Last week we had I think 18 racing on a new server and no issues with good close racing possible and all pings were under 100 still mostly under 70 with just one guy closer to 100.

Here is a video of the end of race and no netcode issues.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-DZSiIqVno

Ive raced a few other servers that have been hit and miss, the netcode will get better but you need a solid and fast server to give good results. Its obviously possible already for some so those having issues need to look at their server setup a bit more I think.

I dont run a server but someone thag has got it working better may be able to help you out.

I think there has to be something wrong somewhere. We tested this pretty extensively, each entering individually. As soon as the fourth person came in, pings starting rising. I mean, they were showing 15,000! Then if we all came out the server stayed up. But if we continued for too long server-side started showing timeout issues and then it finally crashed with a flow of data.

The only way to reset the server was to change the port number.

But as I was hosting this particular server, we decided to bring me in last, someone who had a tiny ping otherwise. As I entered, the same thing happened: slowly rising pings until they became astronomical-- in the millions if we would have waited that long.

Certainly I don't have some fantastic server, which might cost hundreds of dollars per month. Nevertheless, I've hosted before using other racing titles, and something like this has never happened.

But this is what EA is all about. And I don't think it's fair for some to say that someone's connection is always to blame. Someone with a moderately fast connection-- or even an average one-- should be able to handle at least five or six cars. It should be mentioned, also, that all of us within the US.

Servers well optimized through game code don't just crash because one player enters.

EA. Let's hope we get some improvement. I'm confident that we will.

Thanks for your feedback guys, Exactly like Alanbernardo said, at the fourth player, problem appear, and ping peak around 15000ms. YEsterday, i got some problem with 2 player. Probably my server is just not enough powerfull, but My performance charts are still low. We tried other's people empty server, some do the same thing, some are OK. Maybe i'm wrong, but i don't think than managing position on a track is supposed to be performance eater like that. i'm running Networx who is listening to my router ouput to be able to trap if there is another application on another computer draining my network, and i generally never go over 50% of my upload bandwoth while we try to play.

Note: i'm running the Steam Tool Version of the server. Maybe this version had difference.

I start to think it's really my server spec, but it's annoying, because i can run a lot of dedicated without problem, LFS, L4D, Killing Floor etc... It's the first ont i tried to install that my friend and i cannot play together :-(

The guys at xgn were testing a server from Amazon I think, cost about $20 per month and easily handled 20 players. Im not sure if you guys are trying to run a dedi server on the same pc and connection your playing on as that may not work that great. The week before not aure what they used but it started out fine then got worse but that was with about 18 people again and the regukar server one of the guys used in the past. Was fine all practice with about 12 people then as a few more came for the qualy and race it got worse.

The newer server they tested worked great and maybe this week we will try it with full grids at silversne which can take 24 cars I think.

Oh maybe that, i'm playing from the same connection, My ESXi server and My gaming pc are wired to the same router

There are some guys that have run servers from their own connection quite well. I used Micheal Hornbuckles a few times and everyone had d3cent pings. I had 200 being from OZ on a us server but with about 8 people the others all had very low pings. Maybe one of the people running a dedi this way without major issue may be abke to help out with how they set theirs up. Generaly these tyoes of servers are better with less users but having issues with the 4th guy joining just seems a bit odd. Have you posted in the official forums to see if the devs can see anything in the log files

I've see that i can join my server in "Lan" instead of using the Public listing. Maybe it could help by limiting looping traffic on my wan port, but yesterday we were only 2, and as usual the server wih 2 player was ok.
