Horrible audio crackling and buzzing...
NOTE: Fixed it by reinstalling the game. Another user has similar issue though...

Nearly every time I start anything in game (practice/race/career etc) I get horrible buzzing/popping/crackling in the audio. Similar to static but even more annoying.

It doesn't happen every time: Sometimes I can try to start a race and it loads with the noise problem, I quit the race (leave the launcher still running), reload the race and the audio works normally. Other times no matter how many times I reload the game, and even if I reload the launcher I get it every time... Very rarely it will just work first time, but then when I go to start the next race the problem comes back.

Happens with any number of cars on the track from 1-12. Happens with at least half a dozen different cars (all the ones I've tested so far).

I've tried changing the latency settings, changed windows audio settings, verified the game cache, made sure audio drivers are up to date... No errors showing in eventviewer... No other games have any issue with audio...

No mods installed.

Any ideas?

It could then be a problem with your cables. Remove the input jacks from speakers/subwoofer/headphones and from the pc. Then insert again. Make sure they are put till the end.
If it still crackles in the game, try putting the 3.5mm input jacks (the ones with green, black/blue, orange) in different positions, like half way. Or move a bit the cables around while in the game, to see if anything changes.

Thanks for your response, but it's NOT a problem with the audio jacks or cables. Very first thing I checked. Audio plays fine in the launcher, it's only a problem when I load a race.

Problem happens on the stereo which uses a single 3.5mm jack. The stereo is in use daily and never has a problem with other audio sources; movies, games, music etc, all played from the same PC.

Same thing happens with a surround sound headset that uses 5 of the jacks (old roccat kaves), again the problem doesn't happen with anything else playing on the PC.

Also happens with a stereo wireless headset, again in use daily, doesn't have a problem with any other audio source from the PC.

I've tried disabling the alternate audio outputs, problem is still apparent.

I'll try deleting the game from my hdd and reinstalling... Come to think of it I don't think I've installed it since I upgraded OS... That might be the problem...

Okay do that, completely remove the game from its steam folder installation and from /my documents (is enough to rename the current assetto corsa folder in my documents, then when you launch the menu, new menu settings are created).

And if the problem persists after a full reinstall, we troubleshoot again. But when you reinstall the game, be sure to not keep modded files/sounds.

No mods installed anyway, so that won't be an issue :)

Should be reinstalled in 20 mins... Will report back once I've had a chance to test it.

I have the exact same issue. Didn't help to completely reinstall the game(for me).
I tried using another sound output device other than my razer kraken, and so far it works.

I also get a bar on the top of the screen saying cpu occupancy 99% when im driving in speeds with any car under 20 km/h. Task manager says cpu usage is at 30% though, and it's not dropping frames either. Any ideas? =)

Is possible that you downloaded an older version of the game. Here on Steam we are on the game version v1.2.5
Maybe your cpu is weak for many cars and high graphic settings.

I don't get any bars or high cpu notifications... What's your rig? I'm running an FX8350, GTX760, 8GB on Win 10.

You sure it's high cpu usage in the notification and not gpu usage? Which OS?

im 90 % sure it says CPU xD Windows 10

Checking now heh....

You also need to upgrade your graphics card software after upgrading to windows 10. Btw what is the game version you downloaded?
tennis Sep 6, 2015 @ 6:53am
Graphics drivers are up to date. And the version is the one that you download from steam :)

Hah, steam's bugged. On these forums it looks like you don't own it on steam (no mouse icon next to your name), but I can see it on your profile.

We need your pc specs/model to see what's going on.

Possible that he is sharing the game on steam from someone else. Then it appears on profile, but not as he owns it when posting on forums.
