No doubt...
No thank you, won't join you in those.
AMS has very similar drifting, BeamNG over time got more similar to AC and now its decent ish, LFS old drifter favourite is very close to AC... heck even arcade games with decent FFB like wreckfest drift well. And you should be able to shift between any of the above and AC with no effort.
If drifting is broken in AC 80% racing games with good FFB on the market are broken.
So its either assists or just something wrong with setup...
Speaking of setups, cars in AC come from WIDE range, including stuff like tyre types, pressures and generally untuned factory standard setups. So few clicks here and there on setup screen also can help a lot.
I am on Thrustmaster T248 with the shifter, WRC10 easy with every assist off, carx drift easy with all the assists off, racing in asseto ok not easy but very enjoyable.. drifting?? That ♥♥♥♥ just powerslides into a wall.. no control of the car , throttle has like 3 sec buildup as soon as the car gets more power it's instant 180... Start to drift.. the car just slides on inertia.. add throttle in any fcking Angle or wheel position and it just curves inside... To maintain a drift?? Forget it.. if you built enough speed it goes good for 20 meters after that if you add throttle just goes inward...
I don't know what else can I set in the settings, maybe cars settings, like differentials and stuff.. but I know nothing about those.. drift car should drift out of the box without a heap of suspension adjustments.
Proper throttle control and steering is vital for smooth drifts in AC.
The right gears is also important for controlling what speeds the tires can spin.
It's better to go a bit too slow into a corner than too fast.
A bit of Scandinavian Flicks is a good way of getting the car to get angles just before entering a corner to start a drift.
The correct lines through corners are usually pretty similar to the typical racing lines
if the wheels spins too fast, the car will get more angle.
Too little, it will go back towards centre.
If not counter-steering enough, more angle,
too much, less angle.
Failing both of these inputs at the same time usually means spinning out, or loosing the drift angles completely.
Giving a pump on the clutch can be a nice way of getting the revs up and force the tires to spin if needed.
Keep the weight transfer of the car backwards.
Getting the weight transfer forwards is dangerous and prone to getting tank slaps.
Drifting virtually is hard af in the beginning.
Took me about 20 hours of practice before I was able to combine few turns on the same location consistently.
Assetto Corsa is a very good drift simulator since day one of early acess.
Should watch this video, was an interesting one
Thank you for the tips, but unfortunately hands or knowledge about the mechanics of drifting are not the problem :( in real life or virtual, I guess I need to search for drift settings on the web... It's kinda stupid in my opinion that I have to look for car settings to modify the suspension and stuff.. when on any stock car I could perform better in real life than any of the "drift" cars in asseto without heavy settings adjustments
Anyone here who knows how to drift in AC could take any of the stock drift cars and drift no problems. Your excuses just show you've been too lazy to do any research and actually learn the basics.
"I know how to drift irl" is also very questionable since many drift pros have posted videos showing how drifting in AC translates very closely to RL so nobody believes you.
Stop being lazy and go practice.
The real problem is that the "drift" tag in AC really means "street tune" its not really that good at drifting... at best you get more power (often more difficult due to turbo lag), you get a bit more steering angle and stiffer rear and thats it. Tyres are still not right for the job... who drifts on semislicks, and then you put streets, and its OLD ♥♥♥♥ type of tyre meant for good mileage and low noise that just dies when you slide it.
BUT that also means there are car mods that properly simulate a drift spec car Personally i'd recomend WDTS pack. ( https://worlddrifttour.com/ , its the street pack below the first one) Those can be drifted out of the gate, which is not exactly realistic but should give you much better experiance. The physics those car use is the same, the suspension is just prepared for drifting and tyres have very wide operating range.
At this point you're only embarrassing yourself...
Thank you, I will try this :)
Thank you for the car pack.. but still without YouTube and fking manual setting of each car.... impossible, only when playing for 20min in settings, the gas pedal lag went a little bit away, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ car rotations went from "retarded" to "at least it does not do two more spins with steering fully the other way before changing direction, It does only one".
But to call this game a simulator without heavy researches in the settings... A "simulator" is a fcking stretch for asseto :D
With the right settings yes no doubt.. but without knowledge of what settings to touch CarX drift would be closer to a drift simulator.
All of the cars I try keep spinning 2 or 3 more times in a circle on a speed of 22km/h with steering wheel completely turned to the opposite side before even starting to turn the other way...nah.. something in the settings is wrong... Cars don't do that.
You necro a 7 year old thread and call the world's most popular sim for drifting absolute sh!t, but sure, I'm the one embarrassing myself.
The irony. Next time just ask for help and advice like a normal person.
