is csp preview a one time payment ?
do i need to get all updates when i use a csp preview or just pay 1 month and i never have to pay again?

if its on patreon you can pay once and never have to pay again.but you will have to pay for any updates after your sub runs out.

but are the updates needed or a version will work forever even without update ?

The version of which you downloaded will continue to function even after an update. Updates are not needed unless specified by an online server session
