No grip when turning
Hey yall, so ive been really trying to love this game with all ive got. but i cant seem to like it in any aspect except for the cool downloadable maps. no matter what i do i cant seem to get any of the cars to grip how i like them too. rule out any B.S. like cold tires, wheel settings, driver mod, temps of track, etc. i get it, yall love this game. But i want a truthful answer cause i have done everything, i play other gamnes like project cars, dirt rally 2, i-racing, FM7, etc.. and this game just doesnt like to give me the same experience. is there any trick that im missing or any mods i can download?
P.S. I race a honda fit and a subaru sti IRL and i know how theyre supposed to feel no matter what speed or corner i try and toss their counterparts in this game

What control type are you using? Also is your FoV set properly, sense of speed isn't as pronounced as other titles so it's easy to overdrive corners. You only have to look at peoples timed lap videos to see the game is a great driving simulator that has such a massive following for good reasons.

so are you saying iRacing cars behave better in the corner than in AC? cuz that's the opposite of what I feel
Setups are understeary, Increase camber. Lower front end, reduce rear downforce, stiffen front ARB.

Thanks! I'll try all 3 of what you guys say! Appreciate it! And to mule, you're stupid. All you read was i-racing and that triggered you. Great job!

"project cars, dirt rally 2, i-racing, FM7" one of these is not like the others...

Cars in AC are set "factory safe" (especially the earlier released ones) so generally will feel understeery and not great to drive if you don't know what is happening. They do start to make more sense as you drive better, but it will never feel like PC/DR2/FM7.

Thing is driving on PC lacks many details of RL experiance, so many games implement shortcuts for us to close that gap. In AC most of it is raw, no shortcuts, so till you get hand-eye muscle memory of stuff that you just "feel" IRL it's not gonna feel right.

Grip value is very easy to simulate and it is in general correct here (or often a little too much to what you find IRL actually). So all the "no grip" feeling comes from how your brain interprets the screen. Whether it's you or the game settings (like FoV) it's up to you to find out.

edit: one important thing for street cars in AC is to always check the tyre pressures, often they are too high (for various reasons) and that can quite significantly impact grip feeling, so open tyres app and keep the pressure numbers fresh green while driving.

The brake need some learning curve. During the entry phase you need twice the pressure input while braking. Also the ABS is so good that you might have to keep it floored much longer. A good trick is to reduce the front negative camber or have stiffer damper/rate. If you lap faster, it's because you are underdriving the entry phase. Cause normally, the opposite you should corner faster.

AC/ACC doesn't like acceleration input before the apex. You either lift off or trailbrake as much as possible. You don't have to worry much about lift off oversteer*EDIT*. It's almost inexistent.

So it's my fault for not explaining it very well, but in this game I find the steering and braking to be WAAAYYY off from what it should be, I'm not lying when I say that when I try and take a right 3 at 40mph it'll understeer and cause me to veer off, whether I'm putting 45° input or 180° input, it'll still kick me off track. Or how going from 30mph to 20mph takes easily 3 second to do so. I have my wheel settings calibrated correctly, and I don't think you need to be a race car driver to know that shouldn't be the case 😅
Any explanation for that or am I just stupid?

Yeah way off, means something is not right, "going from 30mph to 20mph takes easily 3 seconds" is definitely not normal, and in general a racecar in AC should drive pretty similar to how it goes in iRacing, it should definitely do "right 3 at 40mph".

Now what can be wrong it's super hard to tell just from that description. And usually in these cases it ends up with user overexaggerating and having some control issue, there are almost none actual game bugs on record over the years that could cause something you desctibe. So my advice would be to triple check controls setup, use in car view and pedals app to make sure steering is working 1:1 (virtual and real) and pedals actually work as pressed.

Also if you press Crtl+C a 100% strength AI will take the wheel (might need ctrl+G first to enable automatic gears on H-pattern car), you can then tell us if it was experiancing same problems and/or if it's possible for you to repeat what it did in general. (after ctrl+C you have quit to launcher to regain control, as it's a debug tool)

If you could provide video with the pedal app open that would help greatly, as I can’t replicate what you describe. I have no doubt what you are claiming is what you are experiencing but video is one of the few ways we could look at it critically.

If you can drive at iracing without being kicked offtrack or spinnning by your inputs it should be no problem here.

I'm gonna try some of your guy's tips, really appreciate the effort you all are putting in!

BTW the way how would I be able to record that video for you?

Try using OBS to record, put video at youtube then send link here.
