Any modders around?
I realise this is probably the very wrong forum to ask this. But IF there are any modders around can someone explain to me how to REMOVE a turbo from a car in AC? I've seen plenty of tutorials on how to ADD Turbo. But i really want to remove it from a car. It's a car I've driven quite a few times in real life and one I'm quite familiar with and even loved driving. However the one I found for AC features the Turbo version. While I've driven both in real life I prefer the NA, and driving the car in AC I find my self longing for the NA version in game too. Please help me if possible.

I think you will need to remove the [TURBO_X] sections from the engine.ini, and you'll probably have to rework the power.lut file (note that this is the torque delivered to the wheels, you will need to account for transmission loss).
If data is compressed you will need a tool such as quickbms to decompress and edit the files (all files can be edited with notepad or similar tool), or search for assetto corsa car tuner it will let you edit a copy of the car leaving the original untouched ;)

Edit: I'm not a modder, just a tinkerer!

Oh! Perfect! I'll look into this car tuner thing. If I use the car tuner do I still have to delete the turbo_x or is that done through it?

You can do it manually (the files will be in the data folder of the created copy of the car), or you can use the advanced tab of the car tuner to edit the files directly from it (beware it saves your changes as you type them if you use car tuner)

Didn't have any effect....

Edit/Update: I managed to remove the Turbo whine and thing in the hud, but the car feels the same in terms of power and delivery to spite me altering the power.lut
Does anyone know what might be causing that? Also How to alter the top speed and gear ratios?

Check that the engine.ini doesn't have multiple turbo entries ([TURBO_0] [TURBO_1], etc....).
I just tried and it definitely change the power curve of the car, so you must be doing something wrong.
For gear ration just look in drivetrain.ini

Edit: if the power seems the same, then it's your alteration of power.lut...if you want to see a difference just remove turbo section from engine.ini and try with original power.lut. You'll see that the car has less power

I did actually succeed! Thank you so very much for all this. The car is still way too fast in terms of top speed, to spite me putting the gear rations that are basically original to the car and that should top it out at 190 instead of the 258 that it tops out now. But oh well. I guess I'll just end up tweeking more and more til I get my Perfect, NA 12a powered, 1983 Mazda RX7 FB.

The car has probably too much power in power.lut. If you know the real car torque curve (in Nm) you can put these values minus 10-15% to account for transmission loss and you shouldn't be too far (for N/A engine of course).
If top speed is still higher, then there's probably a problem in aero of the car (too little drag from air).

Hmm I put in the full values, so that might be causing it then. Thank you for the advice. I did notice the stats of the car in CM were a smidge higher than the ones I put in, I keep transmission lose to the default 13% so I'll adjust with that in mind.

Side note, slightly unrelated, but is there a way to convert the .acreplay files to MP4 or some other common video format?

Be aware that changing values in power.lut won't change the value in the output and the power graph in the UI. Once your car is edited you can use the CM content tab, you'll see three dots next to the power graph of your car click on them and select "recalculate curves using data only"

For the second question I can't help you much sorry ;)

Thanks you for all the help so far. I really appreciate it. Might have to start a new threat for that.

You're best off using OBS software to screen capture the replays, that's how a lot of people manage it.

It's really not. You play your game, you save the replay. You load OBS, run the replay (ok so this bit takes time) and viola you have an MP4 to do with as you please.
