Or people are used to the sounds after they've been bastardised to sound 'impressive'?
Recordings of my car using an external mic connected to a gopro gives a pretty good rendition of how it actually sounds, but showing people the recording made at the same time with a crappy dashcam and they much prefer the dashcam sound for its 'rawness'
Exactly. Something that might sound "cool" does not mean "realistic" - there might be lots of distortion and such that real one does not have.
I agree actually, I would say it lacks the real world "growl" but, it has gotten much better and keeps getting better imo.
I think the best thing to do with the current audio in AC for race-cars is on track use the audio app and turn up transmission, seperate it from the engine volume level and then crank it up. The whine being above the engine is enough to add some extra feel to being in the cockpit.
I adjust my audio using the audio app for VR so adding immersion is important wherever I can. I found having a loud transmission, a fair bit of noticable wind and surface noise along with lowering the tyre offset and volume means that your brain adjusts the way it hears sounds in the cockpits. With too much tyre noise I find it makes the engine feel less punchy because the tyres are too close in volume to the engine- so having tyre audio low enough that the other sounds make it feel much fuller works well for me.
Some cars, like road cars you will never get any more `punch` or `aggression` out the sound, simply because this is how the manurfacturer designed the car- BMW for example pipe a `synthesised or amped` sound from the engine in via its speakers because of how good modern cars sound and vibration insulation is, this leads to this `muted` sound I think.
If people are making sound mods for your game that's a pretty sure fire way to tell your sound design sucks.
Not at all.
One thing people don't realize is that sound IN car is different from OUTSIDE and then complain about it. Someone watching from trackside assumes that's what it sounds inside..
i bought this game with red pack prsche season not long ago and ive tryed maybe 7 car and im having a blast every time i give a try!
i played gran turismo , gtr ,lfs,nfs,
Recording engine sound of a car and get it ultra realistic is insanely complicated tast. If you drive around a track with alot of walls that will change the sound, if its really open it will change it again. If you're inside or outside ofc make a huge difference then there are different exhausts, and fake sound through the speaker in many cars today sadly.
Stop complaining, if you think its so bad, make your own then! Show us how its supposed to be! There are a few people in the Eurotruck community that has done just that and some of them has been amazing!

Oh... yes... about sound... IMO it's spot on.
