Banned for life?
Long story short, the minorrating has made a huge mistake and given me a grade D (I think). It seems that the spa gt2 server where I like to race is now requiring ABC or N rating and won't let me in anymore. I couldn't even find any other minorrating servers that let grade D players in so I could try to improve the rating. How to proceed?

And honestly, hand on my heart, giving me anything less than C is fluke in the system. I absolutely try to race fair, but I'm not very fast yet so I get to race in the group where a lot of collisions happen. I admit, I do cause collisions due to my own mistakes every now and then, maybe once an hour. When ever that happens, I hate myself for it. I absolutely prioritize racing fair above lap times or positions. I've even been commended for good clean racing every now and then.

(If you're posting to let me know that I suck and don't deserve to drive on minorrating servers, please, do yourself a favor and use those seconds for something more productive)

Why do you want to play online if you can't play without causing collisions ? What's the point ? Pissing other people off ?

Well with over 60 hours in AC thats a lot of collisions you have caused.

Okay, so maybe I didn't make the actual question(s) obvious enough.

How do I improve my minorrating now that I'm in grade D? How do I even check my rating without joining a server? Is there actually a server that let's me in? Does it improve if I just wait?

Thanks!

The only way to learn to drive in the pack is to actually drive in the pack. Wrecking is part of that experience. We've all done it. This new system that server admins are using is intended to keep would be trolls from ruining the fun of others, but it seems this action has an unintended effect - collateral damage.

rjas, I hope you are able to get back into the races soon. I suggest practicing by playing against ai and make it a point to start in the middle of the grid and remain there thru the diration of your races until you are able to respond properly to what the other cars around you are doing.

I sincerely feel for you.... I'm certain you will be back in before you know it

Thanks for your words Flag! And practicing in the middle of an AI pack does sound like a good idea. But the biggest issue still stands: As I can't find a server for a rating D player, I'm not able to improve the rating, no matter how clean I'd drive.

start your own server for d racers

The creator of this system is Minolin and see if you can come up with a solution.
The only solution to your problem is: learn to identify the wreckers and leave more room to them - even if it goes against the urge to pass them and leave them "well behind'

The practical problem: to find a server that lets you drive-off your "D"-rating. The dilemma is: not every server that uses Minorating is actually carrying the two letters (or the full name for that matter) in the name-description field that gets listed in the server-list.

The other problem: I was racing online today with what seemed to be a good ping to a server, with cars teleporting back-and-forth all around me. Was I the culprit? I would not know, no easy way for me to tell!

That is a problem for Kunos to solve: make the online-experience your No1 priority Kunos! Even the console-guys you want to sell your game to do value solid multi-player these days! Possibly even more-so, when it comes to the "next-gen" early adopters!

search for beginner-servers. I recently have been on one that offered some fwd-Italian hatchback against the rwd-Toyobaru (GT86). Not the easiest of races, ever - given that most of the guys behaved like school-children without any driving-experience. But I managed to do 1.5 "races" with them and although suffering contact once or twice, actually achieving a good inital rating.

@ all the server-admins:: put some identifyable text-string into your server-names! And jointly agree on how you'll do it with others so that we users simply put the magic letters into the search-box and GO!

We should be able to text-search for minorating-enabled servers from within the game / or be given a dedicated filter-button by Kunos to single-out the relevant servers, easily!

I plead for including the string:
" {m/R} "

or something of equal unicorn-dust into the server-name string.

Over and out!

rjas, thanks again for the questions - valid ones. After we sorted out why MR thinks you are D, have some quick answer:

> How do I improve my minorrating now that I'm in grade D?
> Is there actually a server that let's me in?

Like baw said, currently all the ALOOG servers run Minorating, only ALOOG-0 does currently block. You can also look out for my "Minolin's plugin test lab" servers, they often run MR.
More guesses here, although the servers listed here are only the active ones: http://www.minorating.com/Stats

> How do I even check my rating without joining a server?
Currently no way, sorry.

> Does it improve if I just wait?
No

Haven't played online in a long time. Is ''Minorating'' a maditory thing to have when playing online now or can you still race without the App?

it is a system that works on the server-side of things. The racers themselves do not need to manipulate their installation in any way. You simply get identified by your user-ID and the server shares your "performance" in regards to clean racing with a common data-base - which in turn does not store anything other than the in-game identifier of the respective players and their performance over time. The only person who can look up their performance is the individual racer him/herself. Through text-commands put into in-game chat, when online on an enabled server.

Basically: "safety-rating" for Assetto Corsa. Some servers will be restricted to let only clean racers in. Some others will be open for anyone, even those with horrible ratings.

Good, the system is working... we need less people like you online.

Yeah, I bet you're an AC god with your whole 16.6 hours in game. Willing to even bet you haven't been in an online session yet.

It's trolls like you we could use a lot less of....

Yeah snake, I say give the guy a break. He's just asking for help. Your comment can never do any good for a fellow driver.
