I then watched some youtube tutorials on modding and how to make the game look better. You want to watch these videos carefully because once you do, you realize that adding mods to AC is extremely easy, possibly the easiest modification process of any video game I've ever played.
Fast forward 24 hours and I now had a game that looked way better, better lighting, weather fx, day/night cycles. But of course the frame rate takes a hit. Now with all the mods and bells and whistles on, I get around 100fps, which is still fine for me, as long as the game feels smooth. If I want to hot lap, I turn all the eye candy off so I can go back to 300fps and just focus on getting better times, not how the game looks, but all other times I leave the effcts on.
here are a couple videos I used to get me started on modding...
