Sound mods Are they worth it?
Hey can anyone suggest a good sound mod for AC?

I've never used modded sound packs because I've never understood how someone can say they "improved" the sound when they don't have access to the cars themselves.

I've seen a few times how they capture sound for games and you need access to the cars to do it and multiple sound recording devices which by the way aren't cheap.

So I've never understood how someone at home can say they improved it but I'm willing to give it a go but there seems to be heaps of these sound packs so whcih one is better and why?

Tried a few, never kept one. Nearly all sound too "digital".

I have never used one, sounds like a lump rubbish to me. What wrong with the ones with the game as you say they are from the real cars interiors and exterior recorded with expensive equipment. Let us know your findings.

E92 sound mod from modstop.net gets my vote, really brings out the V8, although the AC one is spot on when you compare to YT vids. AC have done a really good job.

Like anything, it's all subjective. Some people love Kunos' original sounds, some people love certain sound mods. All you can do is spend the 5 minutes it takes to try a sound mod and see if you like it. Some sound modders DO have access to some cars, being race fans and spending time at race tracks. Many AC faithful will suggest Fonsecker's sound mods: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/fonsecker-sound-mod-pack-v-1-4-incl-458-gt2-and-corvette-c7r-released.26426/
Personally I think they're superb and take AC to another level, but again, it's all subjective :)

Funny cus thats exactly what i think of the vanilla sounds. They're all pretty much the same and have a very annoying "nazzaly" tone to them. A few video searches show a huge contrast to what they sound like in RL and in-game.

They will always sound digital because of the sound engine they use (its the nature of the beast), but compare this game to many other car game such as RF2, PCARS and even AAA titles like the Forza series the team at AC have done an amazing job! The cars at very low revs and flames / backfires still need improvement imo. I've had this game since very early in its life and the sound team improve very car release, cannot wait to get my hands on the C7 corvette :)

FYI, I only speak of orginal cars, imo 99.9% of mods released have crap sounds.

@Matt not sure if you seen the article but Kunos said they now have a new and improved method to capture sound and they are going back to the older cars to recapture everything. The newest cars from what I gather already have the sound recorded using the newest methods.
Not sure when it will the older cars will ready.

This new process has been about since DP2 (iirc) and every update since has improved and improved.

imo its worth looking into youtube vids of the cars and compare them to AC, you will be surprised at how they sound :)

Ohh ok, I got the impression from a recent article they once again improved their methods.

Basically they worked with Akrapovic and they gave them a load of pointers, but I imagine their process with be constantly evolving ;)
