First thing I would do is go into audio options there is a slider called latency have a play with that to see if it improves.
Are there any cars from official content that don't have working sounds? Certain versions of the sound fix mod can break official car engine sounds.
If those mod cars from the official forum, you can ask in the thread for the respective car: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php#modding-discussions.21
I'm really surprised that only a small number of people have reported the missing icon problem. It's not that there's a difference between people with Nvidia and AMD cards, because there isn't. People with both cards have reported it. If it was only happening to one, maybe it could be argued it has something to do with drivers. I've had the most recent AMD driver for quite a bit longer than when this round of updates happened. I had no problems with the icons before all the recent AC updates.
Have you tried the clear car preview cache to see if that did any good? I haven't run into this issue myself ...yet. it probably won't do anything for the summary icons, but something to try. Also maybe a driver update, could be a corruption somewhere.

I don't know if there would be any cache to clear after reinstalling the game. The problem was there right after my first race. I'll certainly try it, though.
Don't forget, when you uninstall and it may appear all is cleared out from your SteamApps folder on your install drive, there is also an Assetto Corsa folder in your Documents folder that could have remnants of files that can cause some corruption. Sometimes those don't all get removed when uninstalling. other than that, I can only suggest reporting to the official forums and maybe someone will be able to help further: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php
Good luck and have fun on the track!
Thanks for the link to the forum. That's already on my to-do list.
Edit: One thing I did recently was turn off PPE. I'm wondering if that may have something to do with it. Will turn it on and see what happens.
