assetto corsa driving force shifter not working

i recently got into sim racing and decided to buy the logitech g29 bundle that comes with the wheel, the pedals, and the driving force shifter and also purchased assetto corsa and while the game looks like a blast it all just seems complicated for me, took me mutiple hours to set everything up but the only issue im running into is the game is recognizing my shifter no problem but when i assign each gear to the number it works, but in game it doesnt nothing works in game other then the paddle shifters which does the down and up shift ive tried almost everything, change the car to manuel from automatic, checking and unchecking use seperate shifter box, doing the configuration wizard, it can be something wrong with my shifter because i can play city car driving no problem very user friendly unlike assetto

i had the same troubles, its all about mapping the controls too it, if you go into the control settings, you can run a setup wizard that helps map the controls out, its super useful.

You have to manually Activate the Shifter options since they are off by default,


Id suggest you get the content manager for easier setup and better access to all features the game has.

I know this reply is very late but for my own reference later I 'd like to add my own experience. I had a similar issue. I have Content Manager installed but was not using it to start the game. I have a VNM shifter which was already configured and working. After swapping out 7 port USB hub for a 10 port hub of the same brand I found that the shifter stopped working while running AC between sessions with a car. After that the shifter no longer worked when attempting to race but worked fine in the configuration section.
I found that this issue was due to the shifter not being configured within the Content Manager. That is, the H-shifter settings were blank. The solution was to configure the
H pattern shifter in Content Manager in Assetto Corsa|Controls|Buttons section. Tick the "Use H-Shifter" option and configure the buttons for the device you have.
Once this was done the shifter worked fine when racing with a car using a H
pattern shifter within the game.
The shift paddles were already set up in Content Manager and never had an issue and still worked fine.

There's a couple of things to check.

1. The most glaring of all, are you actually driving a car with a H shifter or did you just jump in to a modern day Lambo trying to use your manual shifter?

2. In control manager > controls, make sure you have ticked the box "Use H-shifter". It's on the same tab where you assign your gears.

3. on the Drive tab in CM, click the 3 dots on the left next to "tyre blankets" and UNTICK the following:

auto clutch
autoblip
