my cars are stalling. why?
I played on a setup of a friend of mine and every time I did something wrong the car stalled and I had to turn it on again like in real life. In my game I can straight stand still and switch gears and nothing will happen. when I press clutch the rpm just goes up. this is like a stupid anti idiot mode. how do I make the car stall when it must stall due to my driving?

In Content Manager select Drive -> Single -> (next to Tyre blankets click the three dots)-> Automatic clutch -> (uncheck). This will work in Multiplayer also.

I unchecked that when I first launched the game. Also I have a pro preset. That's why I am curious why is this happening

so the thing is. I can shift gears without touching clutch while the clutch is inverted. when I uncheck the invert and pressing clutch to shift to 1st gear the gearbox starts knocking hard

any vehicle I try. both modded and assetto originals. mazda rx7 tuned from asseto original cars. I need to use clutch only to shift to the 1st gear and start moving. then I can forget about clutch and just use the gearbox to switch between 1-5 gears

Are you using paddle shifters or an H-shifter?

with some powerful modded cars on manual gearbox I can even switch 1-6 gears standing still without touching clutch

H-shifter

also I now noticed that if I try switching gears while holding throttle the transmission starts getting damaged but when rpm goes down it's all ok and gear switches, I am veryvery confused at what's going on

You can shift without clutch in Assetto Corsa for two reason:

You have turned on auto clutch (but probably not)

You have sequential shifter (two leaf on the wheel)

With sequential gearbox in a real car all you need is stop pushing gas pedal and shift, so Assetto Corsa simulate it even when you driving a car that have h-shifter.

You should use real h-shifter or you can continue pushing clutch pedal just for educational purpose (but it don't need for the shifting) If you want to play with clutch - try City Car Driving. In that game you can't switch gear without correctly pushing the clutch pedal.

this seems to be the issue and has no fix. but I don't get how arbath 595 ss and other old caes can have that thing

AFAIK AC doesn't have proper realistic clutch mechanics. Many threads pop up from time to time asking about why can I shift without needing to engage the clutch. For example, as you've probably noticed, you can't get a car to stall in AC, and car engines do not shut off, so there is no realistic stall and clutch biting mechanics. Is it the end of the world? Not really, since AC is about driving, racing, and once you are up to speed, things work fine and nobody in a race is worried about stalling their manual. But having said that I really do wish that AC 2 does get realistic clutch and stall mechanics because the more a simulator replicates reality the better
