I'd recommend getting fitting a magnetic shifter mod. It comprises of a simple plastic bracket that fits behind the wheel, and provides a magnetic base for the metal shifters to click back on to; giving more weight and 'clunk' to each gear change. They are cheap to buy, easy to install and feel great,

My first and only mod was to put some rubber strips under where the pedals hit the frame, i hated the metal on metal sound every time i released them. Was really simple to do, only thing was i had to make sure I calibrated them on each game as it lost like 1/2% travel on each pedal :)
