Heavy stuttering online
On some servers online i get an incredible stuttering, it feels like i'm running on 15 fps or something like it. Everything works well offline, it's just a bunch of servers that give me the problem. My hardware and internet connection are more then sufficent for Assetto Corsa, so i'm thinking it has to be a software problem (I'm running on Windows 10 64-bit).

Hardware:
Intel i5-3570K
GTX 780 Ti
Samsung SSD 840 Pro (Assetto installed on it)
2x4Gb DDR3 1866

Internet:
25 Mb/s VDSL
(pingtest.net):
Ping: 24 ms
Jitter: 12ms
Packet Loss: n/a (Java not installed or blocked by firewall)

I made a short video to show the problem:

it would be interesting to see what the performance graph is showing. Could you add one video of it too? Maybe even zoomed in on that graph?

Stuttering has nothing to do with ping unless its the other players stuttering around.

I made another Video with the performance graph added. Unfortunatly i couldn't zoom in, but the video is 1080p so you can watch in fullscreen :)
Seems to be the graphic card, even though everything works fine offline.
Power can't be the problem, as i can run games like The Witcher 3 in everything maxed out.

You also have to look at the actual ping of the server you are joining as some will be too far away for a good connection. I personally won't join a server if it is over 130 ping.
Ping was the first thing i checked, by the way you can see ping and quality in the upper right corner of the video.

You played on my favorite server ;) am often riding the F40 there, hehe

and yup, its your graphics card, thats the red graph which is 100% loaded and is obviously a software problem. Whatever it doesn't like, I would suggest trying the following out:

1. get rid of all the custom mods you have on AC, including cars, tracks and basically everything, PP filters ect.
2. validate game through steam
3. check whether all the latest drivers are on your machine, including BIOS
4. fiddle around with the graphic drivers, try some of the older versions and go one by one back in the release history, looking whether some of the drivers will perform better then the newer ones
5. report back ;)

7 fps.. looks like your pc is using intel hd graphics instead of gtx 780ti. But is weird that only happens on some servers and not in others. But have you checked different populated servers using Nordschleife?
In Nvidia panel, choose the max performance profile, so that your gpu is used, not intel graphics from the cpu.
In case you need to add profile, the name is acs.exe (assettocorsa.exe is the menu)

hey guys, I'm having exactly the same problem too and it's really irritating. I tried checking whether the pc was somehow using the onboard card but I can't even find it in the device manager (I think it's disabled).
what else could be the issue?
I'm running a r9 285, 8gb, i3 2100, playing perfectly on normal on some servers with 24 cars, so the hardware is not an issue, as well as ping.
any ideas would be helpful

your cpu dual core is not enough for 24 cars, because there's too many physics being calculated. With a lower amount of cars you should be fine.
But when running races with 24 cars, you'll get low fps at first, but once cars spreading out, you can reach 60 again.

A quad core cpu would be better, but in Marc's case the problem should be different than yours.

I'm telling you, on other servers it works perfectly fine. not a single frame drop, regardless of the situation on track, I don't think it's the processor.
I've checked the render stats and the red line is exactly like marc.oh's, it's a flat line on the top, showing 6-7 fps. I guess that has to be graphics?
mijat333 Mar 2, 2016 @ 8:03am
and by the way, it was only 7-8 players online a few moments ago when I tried to log on. perhaps I should also mention that I had a strange situation yesterday when I was about 7 minutes on the server, parked in the garage, asking on chat whether anyone experienced anything similar. and that out of nothing, the stuttering stopped and I could play normally. I tried to do that again today, to wait 5-10 minutes but this time it didn't happen.

Using fullscreen? And when you minimize to desktop then get back to the game, press alt+enter to activate fullscreen mode again, otherwise is just borderless window.

And test out without using mod apps on screen.

Hey sry i'm replying so late but it was a busy week,

I tried deleting the mods and validating the game through steam, which didn't work unfortunatly.
Maybe on the weekend i'll try reinstalling the whole game, before i fiddle around with all my drivers. But right now i'm only playing on minorrating servers which all work fine anyway so i won't change anything for now.

But thanks for the help anyway :D

Btw the F40 is really hard to drive, can't do it for too long ;D

hey marc.oh, just to let you know, I've managed to fix this problem. well, work around it, to be precise. I switched all the graphics details to low or off and it's working fine now, on all the servers.
try fiddling around with that, it might work for you too. I left my resolution the same /1920x1080/, just lowered all the detail settings (world detail, smoke, mirrors, etc.).
