It is not hard to install though and if you do find it hard to install, then you would probably also find installing any mods etc you may have wanted to use also hard to do. In this case CM is probably easier to install than struggling to install every mod every time you wanted one!
CM is good for what it does - it's just not really needed and it's importance over stated by those that seem to think they cannot AC without it when if they just learned a little they would be fine anyway!
It makes installing mods quick and simple UNTIL they do not work and then your trying find the problem.
Also found it much much much better for finding online servers. I found lik e6 in the original game, and like 50 live in CM. Not sure why, don't care. Also the servers updates way way way faster and more consistent.
Give it a try. It's different but change can be better.
It's not even that much, if you're used to PC gaming it shouldn't be a hassle. and if you're not, if you look for something hard enough just by reading the options you have you're going to find it...
This function is already present within CM. How do you currently install zipped up cars and tracks that you have downloaded. CM is the best launcher since sliced bread!
I just discovered presets per mode where i can have different Graphical, wheel, VR, apps, video settings depending on if I want to play online, race, practice or just watching a replay which is done automatically when I choose race type!
I am just getting into AC and my first impressions are not good at all. After I figured out the @@#$%$ UI from the 80's I then went into the grass and throttled up expecting what the reviews said were awesome physics. OMG it didn't react like a real car AT all and the engine sound it made was something from a video game from 1980. So after some reading apparently you need a ton of mods to make AC playable. that is when I encountered the CM. And it looks like you have to PAY for some. Disappointed to say the least. I have most of the other sims and this one seems to be the worst but with all the good comments and reviews , you must need to put a lot of effort into getting the game complete and realistic?
Sorry, Might not be worth it for me. Refund on the way. :(
This isn't an attack on the game, just a newbies first impressions, If you want to grow the player base, Make it easier or slowly fade away.
The expectation to pay for mods has to be the worst. I'm not paying for mods. I understand a lot of work goes into this, but a lot of work goes into mods for other games and the expectation of being paid for them isn't there. Think Skyrim, Fallout, and pretty much most games. The only games that have this heavy expectation of being paid for mods is sim games like AC and Flight Sim. You shouldn't join modding with the expectation you will be paid. It's something you do because you enjoy it. You want a job in it? Go work for the dev teams.
And I will say, the physics and whatnot are fine. But this is a sim. You really need a wheel and pedals. This really isn't a game that grows the player base. It's a game for people who want real physics. You don't drive a car with a controller, and it's for a reason. You can't just floor the accelerator in your car and expect to not spin out.
