Is it still worth it to buy AC in 2023/2024?

I already have ACC and AC2 is supposed to come out next year so is it worth it buy AC right now? Should I just wait for the sequel?

AC is timeless. There is no bad time to get AC, especially if you're in to sim racing and there's a sale.

Sure, just a heads up – Assetto Corsa hasn't seen an official update since 2017, but it's thriving with the life support of modders. Still, it remains one of the best automobile simulators in its own way.

AC2 after release might cost a fortune even compared to AC:Ultimate Edition. I bet you have spare $5 laying around, it's not much for the amount of hours you'll pour into this game.

When AC was coming out rFactor >one< was in current ACs position and was still "worth it" for a long while as AC was in EA.

The amount of content AC has right now will take YEARS to surpass for AC2 after it gets released. The only reason to play AC2 is if you are interested in the early access process itself. If you want a mature racing game AC will be worth to buy even in 2025 and possibly beyond.
