It would help if you post your budget.

For around $350-300 I would recommend the Logitech G29 wheel + pedals + shifter.

Next level up would be direct-drive bundle, something like the Moza R5 which is around $500, but when you throw in the shifter and clutch pedal too it comes to just under $700.

I've been on a G29 for around 2 years and have loved it, great entry wheel. I'm looking at the Moza R5 as my next upgrade. Since we're entering November it might be a good idea to wait until black Friday/xmas sales to get a good deal.

Another option which is better quality than the G29 is the Thrustmaster T300 RS, but many say the G29 has better quality pedals. You'll see happy customers with both the G29 and T300 RS.

I would never buy a gear drive wheel.

We all gotta start somewhere. If money wasn't an issue, everyone would buy direct drive

DD wheels are good, Gear drive is perfect for newbies! You learn a lot with Logitech G or Thrustmaster TMX

Cammus Racing does a direct drive wheel and pedal set for $299 right now, apparently it is pretty good for the price, have a look at it.

Dont even waste money on anything other than a DD wheel. At your budget I would save a little more and go with a MOZA r5 bundle.

Although I do agree that DD wheels are far superior to belts and gear driven wheels, if you're not going to spending dozens of hours every week on it, you won't necessarily need one. If you're a casual player that just wants to have some fun then something cheaper will be just fine.

Wheelbase is definitely a noobfocus item. After like 15k hours in simracing its like on the bottom in importance after peripherals, pedals, materials, button/paddle layout etc.

I guess DD is really nice for immersion and getting hooked, but if you start with it, expect more purcheses soon. Which is the reason why i'd recommend looking at full packages. The reason G29 is still mentioned in a lot of places is because cost is mostly front loaded, and whole deal fits the purpose. Thrustmaster has deals like that too but needs more diving into whats good. While DDs are still sold as a bait, thou thats slowly changing.

If you can get your hands on a Logitech G27 rather then the G29, because the G27 comes with a shifter and the G29 doesen't. Look around and maby you find one. I would sell mine if not love it so much but not yet. I might though.

Skip Logitech, go for a belt-driven TM or direct-drive wheel if you can afford it. Logi's gear wheels are kinda subpar tbh and you'll just end up replacing it with something else.

:steamthis: This goes against everything we see on the forums and Logitech reviews in general online. Almost everything I read about G27/29 owners is that the vast majority are very happy with their entry level wheels, and that the cost to performance ratio for them is very good.

As a G29 owner for the past 2 years, I can attest to this. Great entry wheels, but obviously if one can afford it, direct drive is much better.

I have been rocking a FANATEC CSR forza branded wheel (belt drive) for years and I love it. You can get them cheap now.
