Do you think Assetto Corsa should have a free roam city feature?

Nothing massive but i think it'd be amazing to have a free roaming city to drive round in your favourite car. Racing and time trails are all well and good but sometimes you just want to cruise slowly in your favourite car taking in the atmosphere. If the game had a city map sort of like "Driver, San Francisco" it'd possibly be the greatest car game ever.
Though that's just my opinion, what do you think?

I have long awaited the day that a decent physics engine is coupled with a layout like NFS Most Wanted, TDU, or Driver. Those games have had good content but haven't had the driving feel to keep you hooked. I have high hopes for the modders in AC.

I don't think the current graphic engine can handle it. They need to built something in it that charge only the sector you are in and not the entire track.

That apart the only way I see it happening is through a rip off from GTA 4 or a lot better IMO from Just cause 2.

I think that would be incredible but more realistically just having street circuits with 90 degree turns would be fun like what u see in arcade games but obviously it would still be a sim driving wise.

I would like a rally game more. Dirt and the offical one are lacking a lot compared to Richard Burns.

There aren't many games that have the programming foresight, let alone technical innovation, to morph from game to toy like this. I think (hope) the day is coming when more game developers realize that the things that make them fun to "beat" also can make them fun to just play around with; to potentially discover things about the software that the programmers themselves never actually thought of.

Not entirely there is a limit on map sizes in game, plus the game has a limit on the range of physics on maps think it is like 9km of a center point but beyond that the engine physics start to break down and cars behave oddly.

Smaller scale stuff is doable and i think there are a few drive maps in the works with towns to pass through etc, but something the size of TDU which i think is far larger than the 16km by 16km ac limit will probably never be possible.

so what you want is, essentially a new game... Assetto Corsa is a racing simulator, not Need For Speed.

There is a multiplayer mod for Euro Truck Simulator 2. Probably not what you're looking for but it's there.
