Game will not launch with 3 screen nvidia surround enabled
Anyone else had this and managed to get the game to launch with nvidia surround / triple screens?

I used to run it no problem and I still have the same PC, screens , wheel and pedals. I have returned to the game after 5+ years away and now have this issue! I can get the game to launch when I disabled nvidia surround but I had played 350+ hours all with nvidia surround and 3 screens before I stopped playing.

Now I am back it completely refuses to work and it's so frustrating! I am dying to get back on AC!

why are you using surround anyway? i assume you're using CM?

Hi!

1) Because I want to run 3x 1080p screens in a 5760x1080 nvidia surround setup as I did for my 350+ hours in game before I took a long break. I had no issues at all back then with this setup. I last played in 2018 and then you had to use surround and you would then use the in game triple screen app to configure screen angles etc.

2) No thanks! I dislike CM and as I had the game from launch I was very much used to the game without CM already.

I am simply returning to the game having not played for 5 years as I got back into WoW Classic for a while and then spent a few years playing some other games after that. now I have Dug out and dusted off my my T500RS and have just tried to set it all up exactly as last time I played. Only now the game doesn't launch when nvidia surround in enabled.

Tried renaming the cfg folder in Assetto Corsa folder in documents? Then restarting the game and trying again? You can move back the files that still work.

I still use surround and AC (vanilla launcher), no issues here..

Hi!

Many thanks for the suggestion! I have tried but sadly it seems to not fix the issue!

I can start the game and run it OK if I disable Nvidia surround but as soon as I enable surround the launcher gets stuck on "Initializing UI". As such the issue seems to be something to do with the resolution I am running and Assetto Corsa's menu UI!

The Nvidia surround resolutions I am trying are:

5760x1080
5806x1080 (Bezel Corrected)

I also have seen this thread and for the sake of testing I have tried what it suggests which is how to use 3x screens with Content manager and not having Nvidia Surround enabled. However I also cannot get this to work and if I launch CM with 3x screens enabled but not in surround I cannot do as described and I am unable to have anything other than 1 single screen displaying AC:

Extra info.

This is the same PC etc. I have owned for the past 9 years and this is the PC that I always placed AC on. Despite having not played in 5+ years I had not even uninstalled the game and it was as I last played with all mods etc. still installed.

When I had re-set up my wheel and desk etc. and then tried to launch AC it immediately had this issue but as I had not ran the game in such a long time I assumed that I had broken or out of date mods causing the issue. As such I uninstalled AC and deleted both the Assetto Cosa folder in My Documents and also the Assetto Corsa install folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common - and then reinstalled a fresh install of AC.

This did no help and so then i started looking for threads etc. with others having the same issue. Since then I have tried all suggestions I have found such as renaming the AC folder in My Documents, editing launcher.ini to force non full screen etc. and nothing seems to work.

Sometimes when I try and launch all that happens is that steam says the game is running but nothing has lunched and the AC launcher process lists as running in task manager. Then on other attempts, if I try changing lots of .ini settings I can sometimes get the game seemingly starting only to freeze before it gets to the main menu with "Initializing UI" at the bottom of the screen. When this happens 2 process are open in task manager - the launcher and the game.

I am 38 years old and I work in IT and I am usually able to think through and issue understand what's causing a problem and then fix it. This however has got my completely stuck and unable to work out why the game dislikes Nvidia surround now for me!

I will delete all AC files and folders and perform another fresh install again tonight and try and find out if there is another folder somewhere I am unaware of. I am pretty sure that there have been no Ac updates since I last played so I cannot think that anything has changed with the game or my system since it used to run without issues. Furthermore I cannot understand why it launches and runs fine using a single screen but gets stuck on this "initializing UI" as soon as surround is enabled.

Delete (or better, rename) the entire steam>steamapps>common>assettocorsa>cfg folder? Or just delete/rename the video.ini and triple screen.ini Try again?

You're sure you set the in game resolution to the exact same resolution your nvidia surround settings are, right?

If it helps, my video.ini (in steam game folder):

..and more: did you try updating your Nvidia drivers?

..and from https://steamcommunity.com/app/244210/discussions/0/1471967615838123049/ :
Try turning off fullscreen, as sometimes a strange CPU occupancy problem occurs. In "This PC" (or My Computer) go to Documents \ Assetto Corsa \ cfg \ launcher..... open the launcher file with notepad, and change FULLSCREEN=1 to FULLSCREEN=0, then save the file.

Many thanks for replying again!! :)

I am afraid I am posting now from work and not my home PC and so I cannot check exact versions of things such as my installed grfx driver - however I have stuck with Windows 7 and am still running a GTX 970 and so I am using the final best version driver for GTX 970 on W7!

I am running:

Intel i7-4770K with Corsair H100i GTX Cooler
16GB G.Skill Trident X (2X8GB) DDR3 1600Mhz CL7
EVGA GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0 4GB
Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H
Samsung Evo 500GB SSD
Cooler Master HAF X Chassis
EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P2 PSU
Microsoft Windows 7 Pro 64

1x BenQ XL2411T 24" 144Hz 1920x1080 Display
2x BenQ GL2580H 24.5" 60hz Ultra Slim Bezel 1920x1080 Display (for 3 screen sim racing side monitors)

Thrustmaster T500RS Wheel
Thrustmaster Ferrari GTE Wheel Addon
Thrustmaster TH8RS Shifter

I have also tried the fullscreen trick by editing launcher.ini but this does not work for me either and I just get the same issue with it trying to launch but getting stuck in initialising IU and never displaying AC's main menu interface.

ATM I have found myself a way to play via editing .ini files and setting a car, track and other variables within the .ini and then launching acs_x86.exe from the steam Assetto Corsa folder and this then bypasses the AC launcher which is where my issue seems to lie and loads the game engine with the setting set in the .ini

It is not ideal but for now it means I can at least play and as I have had such a long break for the game and as I was desperate to get back on - this is allowing that.

I will keep trying to find a solution but I also need to finally build a new PC in the next little while as Steam will stop working on W7 in 194 days and so if I do not build a new system I will be locked out of my Steam library! AT 38 years old I have quite a few games and I will not be happy to be locked out! As such I might just keep on with this current way until I build a new W10 or W11 system and hope that I do not encounter same issues on a fresh build!
