best beginner mods

Thats a good base. Less talked about but super nice to have are mod apps.

CSP comes with great radar app, there are more apps to explore within CSP, some of them need to be enabled.

"Sidekick" is great
"Crewchief" you might find cool
If you run multiplayer or like replays "comfy map" is great.
I like to have "Mini info V3" all the time on screen.

But yeah just exploring CSP for things to enable will take a while haha. Maybe people will chip in but its very personal at this point i dont even remember what was on by default.

How do I get those apps? Is it in the sidebar when im in a race or in the content manager menu?

Trained monkey mods are excellent cars and free bannochbrae map is an awesome looking track. My advice is to go bit by bit with mods and updates as they're are so many, crew chief is great though and simhub is essential
