shutoko revival project online ai traffic servers. you can just solo cruise, zig zagging through traffic, going down side roads, exploring the extensive highways, or you can follow another player, or race them. the choice is yours.
edit: i was lazy and hadnt read your post. you already have shutoko. my bad.
but what do you mean the shutoko is not very wide? the main highways are like 4 lanes wide, most of the roads are at least 2. ther is tight technical stuff to challenge you, or there is open straight ahead roads (which admittedly get boring) that you can criss cross through traffic on and keep it pinned in 5th or 6th.
if you want more of a challenge get the no hesi servers from their discord, you will need to download their ai traffic and car packs, you already have shutoko, which they use.
they also have i think a new york map server called FDR i think. but you have to buy that one.
most of the time they are suitably slow without being too slow.
i dont know if you have driven irl, but cars do tend to change lanes occasionally. some drivers are slow, some are fast, some seem to be deliberately holding you up, some are too arrogant to indicate etc. plus, irl traffic generally sucks and is at a standstill. pretty sure we dont want it that realistic, lol.
plus, the cars never crash into eachother. not the ai ones anyway, the other online players do though, i dont knw why such a large percentage of them suck so bad at driving, sometimes i think they are all driving with a keyboard or something.
if you crash i admit the ai traffic behaves appallingly and just rams into you though, which can be annoying. it is what it is though.
AI just crashes into each other. Sometimes directly on to me. You're saying they never crash, I believe I've did something wrong and that is why I have created this topic in the first place. AI is not driving in their lane perfectly, they do sometimes almost block two lanes at ones, especially the trucks but even the normal cars do the same too. And they indeed change lanes but they do it in a crazy way. There are no signals, i think that is not a feature but i undertand. Yet, they do change lanes unbeleviably quick and causing numerous crashes. Maybe I did not set it correctly but feels like currently, Shutoko with the AI traffic mod is almost impossible to play without crashing every 2-3 mins.
there are srp servers without traffic though, maybe you would like those more. just cruise the empty highways by yourself or with another player, with no traffic to hit.
keep in mind the game was never designed to have ai traffic, or free roam maps, or maps anywhere near as big as srp, or graphics that good etc etc.
this has all been created for us by hard working modders. it is not easy to make things for a game that was never designed to have them. that takes a lot of work under the hood.
most of what you say the ai traffic does, it does do. but it never happens enough to bother me.
i have however never seen ai traffic hitting eachother on srp servers online.
if you have set up your own ai traffic offline, then yeah i can believe that. otherwise you may be seeing real drivers hitting eachother not ai traffic.
i agree it would be awesome if ai traffic had better turn indicators. they rarely seem to change lanes for me when i am playing. i do occasionally have to slow down and barely stop in time when there are two ai cars side by side on the 2 lane sections. but usually one of them speeds up and you can slip past. it sometimes ends up with you having to wait a solid 10-30 seconds before you can get past. which is frustrating. but usually it only takes a few seconds and i enjoy the challenge of having to slow down quickly, without locking up and doing nice heel toe shifting, down to second gear then boosting it through the gap when it appears.
i consider that aspect a positive rather than a negative.
i use vr, maybe your monitor is small and you cant see far enough ahead to slow down in time? i dont know.
maybe just keep at it, practice makes perfect. when i first started playing srp i found it frustrating too. mostly just because i didnt know the roads and at the time my computer and older vr headset couldnt see that far ahead and was stuck at 45fps.
but there are generally road markings warning of an upcoming tight corner before you get there.
i had already been playing srp quite a lot before the ai traffic was added. i love the ai traffic just personally.
each to his own though.
have you got pacific coast highway? that is a nice fee roam map, you can add ai traffic to. or la canyons etc.
they are not city type driving though, they are more country roads.
