Is it worth it or not?
I bought this game a while ago and I got so lost in the menus that eventually I got sick of it and uninstalled the game. I couldn't understand it. I was thinking if this game is worth another shot. I know a lot of people mod the hell out of this game but for me this seems like more work I need to do in order to enjoy the game at its max potential. Do you guys think it's worth the trouble?

Get this. You dont really need "mod the hell out of it". If you get used to that launcher you'll be able to "mod in" any higher quality car/track with just a drag and drop.

The only other two important mods are:
1) CSP, which is part of the above launcher mod and (you only need to "turn it on" there afair).
2) SoL (or) Pure graphic mods that need seperete installation.

Is it worth? Idk we just hit our all-time peak users count like yesterday... 7 years after release, so give it a try and tell us.

ps: if you struggle, join a discord thats aligned with what you want to do in AC, there is always people wanting to help.

You don't actually have to install 1000 cars and 200 tracks (that would require thousands of hours of gameplay to actually drive) to play the game. As above, get CM (a vastly superior launcher with a ton of extra features), CSP (does so much awesome stuff it would take all day to list what it does) and Sol (weather mod) and start by driving the official cars and tracks. Even without any mods that game has like 150 cars (assuming you have all DLC which you definitely should) and lots of great tracks. You can always add mods later if you want but you don't need to start by adding tons of mods. Game is most certainly worth it.

This part is pretty bad advice, installation via CM can work or it might not, whereas installation without CM always works if you know what you are doing, and takes nothing more than unzip cut and paste (as long as you know where to paste, which is super simple if you take a moment to figure out how the folder structure works). AC forums are getting flooded with "I installed mod via CM and it doesn't work, what do I do" posts

I was in the same boat. 4 years ago I bought AC and refunded it the next day because it just felt weird on a gamepad and even after messing with the settings based on some guides, it still felt weird for me, compared to arcade racers like Forza Motorsport, etc.

Anyway Around a year ago I bought AC again but this time was different, I wanted to unleash the sim's full potential and not give up on it, so I got a cheap wheel and VR headset and it just changed everything for me, like I wasn't prepared to be this blown away.

Bear in mind AC was my first racing experience in VR with a wheel, throw in it's imo the best sim in the world and it all hit me at once and I just fell in love with it. So yes I would say it's very much worth it if you can get your hands on a cheap wheel to start with, because that really is a game changer and allows you to try AC how it's meant to be driven. VR, sim rigs, etc can all come later if you wish and still enjoy it.

The ultimate edition goes on regular sales for $8 and you get literally everything in the AC world, all tracks, cars. Best game bargain ever. Probably explains why AC recently hit it's 24-hour online player peak record.

Get content manager, alot more friendly to use, and has alot more options and settings you can adjust. Might seem bit overwhelming at first but I found it alot nicer to use than the base game menus

I would say for someone struggling with a menu that a young child could easily use then a lot of games are probably not for you, especially driving games when you would need to do things like steering and braking at the same time as avoiding other vehicles on the track. I would look for idle/clicker games that you only need to worry about clicking the screen every few seconds or minutes and they usually have a simple menu system. Seems strange everybody saying getting CM when that adds like 4 x the number of menu items and settings pages and the OP was already struggling.
