Assetto On VR
Hey everyone in the Assetto Corsa community. I have just bought this game and noticed you can play it on VR. I've been looking on Youtube to see if it's possible to use the quest controllers to grab the steering wheel, shifts and clutch but have had no luck in finding anything that explains it, so my question to the community I am happy to join, can you use your quest controller in Assetto Corsa

In general AC VR is done with a wheel and pedals for controls while using the VR headset to achieve a more natural driving position and view. VR controllers aren't really used. I'm sure one can probably map something out as a gimmick but it won't be like grabbing a wheel.

Would it be a good investment to buy the wheel and pedals?

If you have even the slightest interest, then absolutely. It's too much fun!

There are a lot of entry-level options to look at from Thrustmaster and Logitech at the moment especially with the sales going on for around $200-$300. It may also be worth looking for second-hand listings in your area as you could potentially find some great deals.

I started with a Thrustmaster T150 a couple years ago for $200 and have since dumped just over a $1000 into upgrading my setup.

A very good one. One of the best leisure investments I've ever made was buying AC + a wheel + a VR headset.

It's a mind blowing experience which using keyboards or gamepads just won't deliver.

Sounds amazing. Any gear suggestions for AC? I'm really looking forward to joining the fun

For me a good starter was a second hand G27 that i got for 100$ a year ago and that I still rock. AC Is so highly customizable that even if you don't care for classic racing you can with a few mods turn it into damn near what ever driving/racing you like. Ir's extremely budhet friendly. A Thrustmaster T150 or even T300 if you have the money are both amazing, logitech side you can get a second hand G27 for lower money, but it can be a bit old, or a new G29+Gearshifter for around 350$. I can't comment on the VR experience much as I've only enoyed it once at a friends place, and it was fun. But budget keeps me on my single monitor, and I still have no issues. AC with a wheel, especially budget one is a great investment even if you only drive touge and free roam modded maps on the weekend. it's amazing fun for fairly little money. So yeah suggestions at either Thrustmaster T150[T300 if you got more cash], or a logitech G29[27 on a tighter budget].

Edit: One thing about AC tough is if you end up really getting down the rabbit hole of AC and ACC, you can really quickly find your self forking out north of 2k for a Fanatec setup with a full sim rig, heck I know a guy who currently owns a full VR based sim rig with full direct drive top of the line stuff that cost him like 16k$, Granted he is a test driver for a certain tire manufacturer from Japan and is damn near obsessed with cars. Only thing he seems to like more than cars is food...

I bought the popular G29 a little over a year ago, a well known starter wheel and I've been very happy with it. I'll upgrade to better gear eventually but I'm so happy with the G29 that I'm in no rush at all. I got it on sale around $250 at the time, very worth it.
