Can you play with keyboard?
Is the handling something like Shift or Shift 2 or the Codemasters games? Or way harder?

You've got no hope trying to race with a keyboard. You need a wheel and pedals. Don't know how anybody can even think about driving with a keyboard !

what he said.
The minimum requirement is a means of seperate and precise analogue input for each of these:
steering-angle, brake-pressure, throttle (and clutch, if possible). Which means a decent gamepad is the only practical alternative.

digital inputs, via keyboard-keys won't get you anywhere with modern, life-like racing-sims like Assetto Corsa.
A proper ffb-wheel is still recommended in order to get access to the driving-feel in your hands and in order to have a chance at performing competetively and drive cleanly

Keyboard works great...for navigating around the menus, for driving you need a pad at the very least, but you should really get a wheel.

I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it is very difficult and a huge disadvantage. You should at least use a Gamepad, like an Xbox One controller - only use a Keyboard if you can't afford one. They're really that bad.

just ask yourself the question "would I like to drive my real car with a keyboard?"

think I know the answer :)

Although Assetto Corsa is a sim, you can easily use your keyboard. When testing mods and being too lazy to set up my G27, I drive with the keyboard. I think it's much easier than in NfS Shift (2) because in AC digital inputs are translated very smoothly right out of the box. Additionally, you can use mouse steering to be more precise.

But, as my predecessor have already mentioned: If you want to compete or just be precise (and consequently fast), you need a wheel.

Ahh, forgot about that. Mouse steering would make life a lot easier.

And honestly, AC has pretty decent KB/Mouse support. Just don't expect to beat people using other control methods - it's plenty functional, but definitely not ideal. Especially with more powerful cars, where you'll want a scalable throttle - something a KB just can't provide.

Gamepad (controller) is the way to go.

Maybe, but you are not answering OP's question. ;-)
It's definitely possible to enjoy Assetto Corsa with the keyboard (plus mouse).
Other users and I could also recommend using a decent wheel but that's not the question here.

Aye, you can. It's a lot harder than using a controller or wheel.

A wheel is recommended but I've raced with some people that can hold their own with a keyboard. Just needs a lot of practice.

Assetto Corsa is better on keyboard than GRID is.

Well it is possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's a sim and sims are best enjoyed with a wheel...but it is possible nonetheless ;)

Theres a youtuber called Handi, that streams corsa.... he has one arm and drives completely with the mouse.... he proves you dont need a wheel to enjoy corsa. But i would recommend a xbox controller over keyboard as you cant properly control throttle or steering inputs with keyboard. The mouse control option actually works really well, ive drove with it.

It's not impossible to play with a keyboard, so there's that.
