Simulation of proper steering animation for keyboard players
Before you flame me for playing AC with a keyboard I need to tell you that despite buying a controller I found AC to be much more playable with a keyboard.

I can't afford to buy a 400 dollar steering wheel which is going to break down couple years from buying. For a person who lives in a developing nation that's a meaningful amount of money better spent elsewhere. I DO NOT mind being at disadvantage when playing online with a keyboard at all. It's all for the fun.

I would love a steering wheel animation tuned for the keyboard players so we don't have to watch jerky steering animation. Mind you just the steering wheel animation not the actual steering. I know the steering wheel animation could be turned off but that's not a solution to me.

Anyway that's all. I felt I needed to let it off my chest.

The game is very playable with a keyboard, and as long as you know the racing line with the braking spots and turn-ins, you won't go off track.
But you need to remember of one thing, using keyboard arrows or a d-pad for steering won't be possible to have the same effect as with a wheel or analog sticks from a controller.
For the simple reason that arrows and d-pad have digital input, while analog sticks and a wheel have analog input.
The steering wheel inside the car while driving with a keyboard is pretty smooth actually, but you can't hold off something analog with something digital.

Resuming it: with a wheel/stick you can hold off a certain value (meaning the steering wheel in a certain position), but with keyboard buttons or d-pad you can't because those devices give numbers to the game one after the other, so if you let go the keyboard button, the steering wheel will receive a new number, so it will turn back, while with a wheel/stick you can stay in one number, meaning if your hands/fingers in real life don't move, the steering wheel from car inside the game won't move either.

Ps. if you don't want to see the steering wheel going back and forth (side ways), don't use cockpit view, then you will perceive a smoother driving.

Try using mouse-steering, it's amazing.

But I love the cockpit view the most. Mouse steering felt terrible the last itme.
@QUF I'm fully aware of the limitations of playing with keyboard.

Turn down the "virtual steering wheel rotation limit" setting under the view options. I used something like 180 while I was using a 360 pad to get rid of the jerky motions. You can't completely get rid of it, but it definitely helped me a bit. This doesn't actually cause the car to turn less, but just limits the animations so they aren't instantly turning the wheel 900 degrees.

Thanks Vis will try that!

Exactly, mouse is another analog input. Digital input like keyboard buttons will behave the same way in all racing games, the car steering wheel will always look like that since is real-time movement, unless they somehow add "lag" to it, like wheel and controller have the "filter" setting, I don't know what'd be the result with keyboard if they add filter setting.

Thanks that helped a lot with the steering wheel animation!!

Gosh what a difference I now drive faster and the game is much more enjoyable after setting the steering wheel animation.

Yea it's terrible with the jerky animations. You literally can't tell what the car is doing at all and how much you are actually turning.

Indeed thank you again Vis! Much appreciated. How could I miss that option for so long?!

$400 dollar steering wheel that will break in a couple years? what planet do you live on... pick up a cheap logitech momo. that thing is indescructible and will cost maybe 40-50 used

Planet made in China? When it comes to gaming peripherals I have been burned too many times. With Logitech and with Razer: joystick, high end mouse and mechanical lit keyboard.
