first off, I would really recommend investing those extra 50€ into the clutch, its such a satisfying feeling pumping those gears, hehe :D And second, try to re-callibrate your wheel in-game and just simply skip (with throttle) the step where it asks you to assign gears, it should work just fine afterwards ;)

If you do not have a manual shifter, than just use the paddle shifters to shift up and down in manual H-shifter cars. Make sure `use seperate shifter` is UNTICKED and either use the clutch pedal when you need it or tick `auto clutch`.

If you have not mapped gears 1 through 7 and reverse and unticked `use seperate` shifter, then you are relegated to using the paddleshifters for manual cars without them (as long as you map the shifter up and down).

There is nothing wrong with your setup and AC works fine like this because I had a Logitech DFGT without clutch pedal, no auto-clutch and I could shift every car with paddles- you just need to set it up correctly.

I don't have a manual shifter... I only have the paddles... my problem is that when I choose manual transmission the paddles don't work although that the game recognize them us my shifts... I didn't tick the " separate shifter" thing but I am not sure that I understood the gear mapping you mentioned.. how I map them
With the paddles?

I did.. the problem is with certain cars like the Ford Mustang and the BMW e30... I did everything but in those car I can't gear up or down with the paddles when I choose manual shifts.. :(

Go to your setting for controller and check the box where it says "use separate shifter"
you can't manual shift without a H pattern shifter.

In the CONTROL/SHIFTER setup screen there's a seperate box which you can map 1-7 gear plus reserve with a checkbox inside 'USE SEPARATE SHIFTER'. This is for people who have a separate H-gate shifter. Mr Crisp meant IF YOU DON'T have any of these keys mapped (which you shouldn't because you don't have a seperated shifter) your game will be bound to use the paddle shifter. So make sure you have 'USE SEPATATE SHIFTER' unchecked and turn on auto clutch.

I have just tested this out. I have the Thrustmaster TH8R shifter and found out that certain cars won't allow me to use the H-Shifter to drive. If the car had a paddel shifter in real life than it won't let me use my manual shifter. What you have to do is make sure the box for "separate shifter" is check and also map the paddles on the wheel for shifting. This way you can drive ALL car with manual. Also if the car has a semi manual transmission, the clutch doesn't seem to function either.

Hope this helps.

Cars tested: Supra "time attack" = H-shifter works with clutch
Ferrari 458 RC = Paddles only / no clutch
Lotus GP = H-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ w/ clutch working

Ok I believe that I didn't make this clear.. I bought the g29 wheel and i have only the paddles.. the H shifter not included and you have to buy it separate(I didn't). I want to drive all cars with manual but I can't drive some certain cars like the Ford Mustang or the BMW E30. I tried everything like uncheck the "separate shifter", auto clutch, and still in those few cars I can't putt on a gear.. I can drive them only if I choose the automatic gearbox.. luckyluke is suggesting to check the "separate shifter" thing and map the paddles.. I didn't tried that but how I can map 2 keys(paddles) in 7 gears?? And I mention again that I have ONLY the paddles and NOT a H shifter.
SnakeEyes Oct 7, 2016 @ 6:02am
Barbaruz, you will have all 7 gears. It's a simple shift up/shift down scenario. I was saying before that I have noticed certain cars in game do not let me use my h-shifter to change gears. I have to use the paddles and this also disables the clutch for some strange reason.
Cars that have semi-manual transmissions seem to disable the h-shifter and force me to use the paddles. I would make sure that you have the shift up and shift down mapped to your paddles and uncheck the "use seperate shifter" box. If the problem still happens than I am sorry to say that you will have to drive auto with those cars. This sucks and they must have patched this game some time ago because I use to use a G25 and had the shifter in sequential mode all the time with no problems.

So use the paddles to shift up and down in manual-H shift cars- it works in every car as I and many others have tried it.

You must have either not set something up correctly or something is set up incorrectly as you don't need an H manual shifter if you don't have one- you use paddles and/or auto clutch- you will get a shift delay as this is supposed to replicate the real time that manual shifting would need.

It works, I have no idea why it doesn't work for you.

Additional: Please post screenshots of your settings for you wheel, all the pages- it will make it easier to see whats going on, otherwise we're going to be here all week trying to help you. Help us help you.
