Logitech G920 steering on it's own
Hey there, I just got my logitech G920 wheel, bought this game and tried it out. I calibrated it, installed all the latest software and drivers etc, and now evey time I start a race, the wheel starts to steer on it's own. Just small ticks, back and forth, sometimes larger turns.

Why? What's happening? I can't get it to go away. I've recalibrated it and everything seems to work fine but in a race, it's bugged as hell.

Please help!

There's a setting you need to change for your wheel model, in assetto_corsa.ini file C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg

change to damper_gain 0.

and what the setting above does is increase the frequency of the ffb. ff_skip_steps to 0 gives 333hz. But it puts more work on the cpu, so don't change if cpu isn't good enough.

Don't worry, I have a i7 4770k. I'm gonna try that right now!

I tried, and unfortunately it didn't work :( I read that it reduces the friction when your car is standing still, which it did, but the car still steers on it's own when trying to race. Any other ideas?

what are your settings on logitech software?

Just standard actually, I changed nothing. The steering wheel works on forza 6 apex and euro truck simulator 2. Just not here, and I purchased this game with the intention to play it with the wheel..

what it means that it steers on its own? Any car that when accelerated without hands on the wheel will move the steering wheel in any direction.

for logitech software have damper off, centering spring off and 0%. And 900º steering.

In AC you need to load your wheel's preset. I have a G27 and that's what I do and works. Later you can experiment with turning off ffb effects.

Other recomendation would be to load a track and a car in practice/hotlap mode, then try with another car to see how it feels.

I tried different cars, and yes I'm aware that the steering wheel will start wobbling a bit. But it literally starts steering on it's own. Like, 25 degrees to the left, then starts wobbling, then 15 degrees to the right, sometimes making a complete turn. How do I turn off damper and centering spring in the logitech G software then? I only seem to be able to find how to change the steering sensitivity. I did load the wheel's preset in AC and even tried to load some other pre-sets. Didn't seem to work.

I just found out that it's the FFB going completely nuts, even when I'm standing as good as still. I didn't change anything so it was at default. Turning it off fixed it, but well, that takes away the entire experience.. Are there any known issues with FFB in this game?

the software for g27 is different so idk. search on google or youtube, there must be people showing the advanced settings for it.

I put the FFB on 60 now instead of 100, it was better. Have to try it out a little bit more but that might have been it for some reason. I'll fiddle with the settings some more to see how it goes and I'll post it below. Thanks for all your help!

that is only a "fake" effect for resistance under very low speeds. But everything is natural from the car. You don't need that resistance when the car is stopped. I don't even use it because I don't do anything with the car stopped.

FFB also includes the feedback you get on the wheel right? Not just the steering but the little bumps, how they affect everything etc, giving you more or less resistance at all kinds of moments. I think that's pretty important. Turning it off just gave me a wheel that steered left and right like I was floating at any speed. When playing forza or euro truck simulator for example, the steering wheel was vibrating and giving me more resistance at some points with forced feedback turned on

Oh you had ffb off in logitech or game? Then it might have been the resistance from damping or centering spring.

These settings might be in your logitech gaming software - settings. Or you need to select the game profile and then turn off the spring force. If you installed the software from a CD then it could be outdated, take it from here http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/g920-driving-force

I turned it off in game. There's (as far as I know), no option to turn it off in the logitech settings. The logitech settings are pretty bad.. So yeah I turned it off in game, that made the car drive normally (apart from the fact that it ruins the experience lol). Gonna try to fiddle with the in game FFB settings to see what it does.

When you say ticks back and forth do you mean when going straight and let go of the wheel it starts to oscillate left and right slowly getting worse till your car hits the wall? or something different?

Cos if its that oscillating thing then thats just logitech, dont let go of the wheel.
