first set your desktop-resolution to the preferred refresh-rate of 100Hz. Apparently the monitor needs to be told to offer that refresh-rate over the data feedback-channel that is part of the signal-connection. Using the display-port is worth a shot if you have problems with hdmi.
When that was successfull, you might be presented the option inside your game(s) automagically.
With everything maxed out, I was averaging 90 fps with the 1080. I backed that down to get an average of 150 fps, but on the test i still get a min under 30. In game I run a max of 100 fps. It really is more lifelike/realtime. I don't really notice much visually, but the response is much better. I'm really glad I got the 1080... I thought the 1070 might be enough.
