EDIT:Googled "Rack servers assetto corsa"
and entered a site named rackservice and prices are unexpectedly low for me.So If its just "pay the money monthly and enjoy your server" that simple,I could rent it And It would be cool If I can set it private or public whenever I want.
In your AC folder it has all of the tools you need to start your own server ,Though it can be a right pain. I tried it once and i took ages to set up. Then i had the issue of people not being able to join the lobby etc.. I gave up in the end..
I have always said that the 1 thing this game lacks is a decent lobby system and menus ..
If we had the lobby system of PC2 with he FFB of AC it would almost be the perfect Racing game but for some reason , not a SINGLE racing game Dev wants to do it even though its smacking them in the face daily to dominate the genre !!
The biggest complication is port forwarding, and making sure the right ones are open, both on your computer and your modem/router. The game only accepts specific port #'s, so you have to open those specific ones, other ones will not work from what I've tried.
Can't say I did much troubleshooting, because as soon as I got it working, I gave up changing anything else and was happy that it worked. lol
Firewall settings is through your firewall program and you will need to open the right rule sets. Windows - Windows firewall > advanced settings > inbound rules. Set the ports equal to the ports forwarded above.
Very arcane.
Use Content manager for server settings. The video link above shows vanilla AC server settings.
